What are the Chances that the Special Education Conference gets left out of the CFP ?

Bama beat Georgia in their Championship game. Possibly creating CFP chaos! Lol

Washington beat the Lame Ducks yesterday! Let's assume Jim HarBags team Wins and so does FSU all would be Undefeated. Next in line would be the Luckeyes but, since they didn't play of Win their Conference Championship that would make Texas the next one up. And since they Beat Bama in Bama they Own the tie Breaker!

What are you thoughts?

Post-Game Thread UNLV vs Boise State

Some quick thoughts right after this ended;

1. Losing to an interim coach in the championship game by a score of 44-20 is not a good look. The score is not indicative of how badly they beat us.
2. There were certain plays that looked funny in terms of how much effort was given to get a first down.
3. As mentioned before in the in-game thread, if we lose the bowl game and end up at 9-5, we have to legit look in the mirror and ask if we are a good team? Thats my opinion.
4. I hope we take a close look in the mirror at our defensive coaches. The secondary didnt improve at all. Davis and Magazu need to go for us to truly compete. Also, revamp the entire secondary personnel wise.

Thoughts and comments welcomed. I hope everyone gets home safely.

Caleb Herring

I am listening to the new Cofield podcast with Caleb Herring and it is painfully obvious that Herring wants Doug Brumfield back in there. He doesn't give him any credit at all. I remember listening early in the season when he kept saying that Doug will be back, he is QB # 1. Maiava hasn't done anything, it's all the team. I didn't think it was possible that there could be a Brumfield nut hugger left in the free world at this point. Pitiful

Championship game and bowl game

posted it in that pregame article, I think it'll be the AZ bowl vs Toledo.

As for this game, Boise is bigger, deeper, stronger and just better than UNLV. Boise didn't "outcoach" UNLV but they sure as hell out executed UNLV. Defensively, players were put on an island and they knew they had to make plays. Almost across the board, from tackling to coverage, UNLV failed mightily. Jeanty ended up with a big game and we weren't going to let him beat us, but Green did. He was really good aside from one play. That was the gamble that didn't pay off. Ironically, he can be wild and he was on target today and it could have been worse as a wide open TD was flat out dropped.

Offensively, the running game was a non factor and Jayden was awful. Those dropped interceptions over the second half of the season that we were lucky with, weren't lucky with them today. He was just bad. And he's carried the ball like a loaf of bread most of the season, it caught him today. I still have visions of that wimpy 4th down conversion attempt. I think we were down 14 and driving and it the first down was necessary - and he went down so weakly and easily, I lost a ton of respect. Maybe I'm reading too much into a single play. But that big of a play at that point of the game at that point of the season ... you gotta be kidding me. But he didn't blow the game by himself. The offense only scored, what, 17 points? For an offense that scores 35+ ...it wasn't ALL him. The defense was awful, tackled like crap, covered like crap, they played worse than last week which was worse than any game before that, whether it was a win or loss. So it's a two game streak of our worst football, IMO. A couple of weeks to regroup.

Not a lost season by any stretch, even if we drop the bowl game. The accomplished so much with such a terrible program. Now we see where the weakness are and can make wholesale changes for the type of player we need from the portal. Some guys just don't have it behind the sternum, IMO. Many do, but some don't. Be done with them and move forward and get better. Recruit over, get the right players, to hell with what is here if they don't fit the mold you have. Disappointed but not defeated, it will always be considered a good season. And with our basketball team sucking so badly, it was much needed relief from sport to sport, year to year sucking. I'm appreciative that they got my juices flowing for the season, I thought they completely evaporated, it's been so long. Finally a season you could actually watch, enjoy and appreciate because they didn't look like complete druken fools running aimlessly (football and basketball).

Recruits and their priorities, other stuff

Kind of an all over the place post. Based on a mix of actual info and my own opinions.

UNLV is going to do well in the portal. Very well, I think. I also think we are going to lose some players, some players that matter, some players that haven't played yet, some players ... that's going to be the nature of the portal going forward.

UNLV showed alot of ingenuity and excitement in their offense and it's going to draw some nice players. Of course, winning helps, but when you do it in a way that's appealing, it's going to attract eyes. What we ran this year and our success with it is mattering.

When I think of the opposite, sadly, I think of our own basketball team. We struggle, so winning isn't attracting anybody. The offense is ugly as hell and there's nothing fluid or exciting about it. You could say the same about SDSU in a sense, their offense isn't exciting at all, it's a grind. But they have a history of winning and they sell toughness and playing defense, they won't waste time on you if that's not what you are about, and it works for them.

When we land some players, don't get too excited, hoops or football. It may not last, it may flip. When we lose a player from current roster, it might suck, but there are quality replacements (at least for football). The portal has really, really changed everything about college sports - along with NIL. The team building of today vs yesteryear aren't even 7th cousins, they aren't really related at all.

I really do like the direction of football, there is a ton of momentum regardless of how the last two games play out. They did it for a long enough period and the product is so drastically different (we went from 30 year streetwalker crack addict to a small house in the suburbs and a 40 hour per week respectable job that pays all the bills), it brought in alot for the program and school. Basketball is traveling the opposite way, from high on wall street to scraping for your next binge on skid row.

I also fully and wholeheartedly believe that one head coach will be here next year and the other will not, barring anything outrageous.

Disc jockey T&M

I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again.
….A basketball game is NO PLACE for a disc jockey. It doesn’t add to the atmosphere of the game, it only detracts.
… A person cannot even talk to his buddy next to him without being screamed at or
music blasting. Totally ridiculous.
…A basketball game is the perfect place for a pep band to shine. We have a good pep band. They should be playing all the time. But no, they are allowed 4 or 5 songs per game. All sitting on their butts as the crowd in bombarded with some form of obnoxious noise.
.. And, I’ve been told, this is what the people want.. this is the wave of the future. Looking around at tonight’s game and all games these last few years..I don’t think so.
…Whoever is in charge of our light show needs to retire with Kevin. Who’s idea is it to dim the lights BEFORE they introduce the opponents??? The light show is for US. Then, of course, we still show our highlight movie clip. If I was a coach, I would never allow my team to show/watch that. The hard hitting impact of our “old” lightshow was so much better.
… I could go on but my rant is over.
PS. I love the $2 beer nights. So there’s that.
