Saw adding Hawaii as full member could keep MWC media deal around 5-6 million. Amazing what the degenerate gambler demographic adds to your media market value.

CUSA teams seem the most likely potential additions but not sure how much any would add to a media package. There are some interesting Sun Belt teams but honestly unless you could add a minimum of at least 4 'Eastern' schools not sure it makes much sense for any to join financially without travel partners.

NMSU seems a natural fit but being only 100k population in Las Cruces and only 50 miles from El Paso they probably don't add much for a media deal. UTEP despite their struggles was the better choice based purely off their population vs NMSU.

Sam Houston State gets you a second team in Texas and they are playing decent football.

La Tech probably a no.

Western Kentucky would be a good get and increase conference footprint but would need travel partners.

There just aren't many West options really.

Not sure even as football only Toledo and NIU make a lot of sense. Feels like you would need a few more 'Eastern' teams as travel partners for it to make sense.

8 with Hawaii full member gets MWC to the magic number but means teams are going to need 5 OOC games which isn't ideal.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not.

As part of the House vs. Ncaa lawsuit that started revenue sharing there is a change in roster size for Men's BB (already in place for women's) . Starting this season instead of a 13 man roster there will be a 15 man roster allowed with zero walk-ons ( non-scholarship players ) allowed.

The final decision to implement this was expected last Monday. Didn't happen, but it's expected very soon.

We think that we have it bad.

Emmanuel Stephen from Arizona. We recruited him hard out of HS but couldnt get him. He is James Evans AAU teammate and James did a lot of work here.

I am going to go on the record here and I’m going to predict that Josh Pastner is going to get it done. He’s charismatic, a great recruiter, and a determined individual. Something we haven’t here since Tark. I get that he’s not the best X and O guy but I don’t think Tark was either! Tark was charismatic and a great recruiter. He had Grg for the tactical side and I think as long as Pastner hires a good associate coach to assist in the tactical side I think we will be ok. Look at his recruitment at previous schools, It’s been top notch. I really think he’s gonna get it done and at least bring us back into relevance.

I was texted a few minutes ago.

We've all heard that the Pac and MWC have discussed going into Mediation over the Poaching and Exit fees. There hasn't been much said since. However, it does appear that both the Pac and MWC as of yesterday March 14th, 2025 have both filed for a "motion to Stay Proceedings in California" regarding mediation. Looks like this will drag on for a while.

“Today, at the request of the Mountain West Conference, the Pac-12 has agreed to file a mutual 60-day order to stay in the case to discuss mediation options,” the Pac-12 said in a statement. “It is important to state that we are in the early stages; no mediation dates have been set, and mediation is still uncertain. The Pac-12 remains confident in our position that the Poaching Penalty will be declared invalid and is committed to defending our stance.”

So, it appears we now have to wait on the courts to approve this. Once approved they have 60 days to see if they can come to some mutual agreement. It doesn't mean they will and it could just go back to the court. From the Pac's stated position above they think the the poaching penalty is invalid. I'm not sure if they are serious with this mediation.

I think we were a finalist for this kid last offseason out of UW.

Coach was interviewed this A.M. about the final four @ 9:30 A.M. The subject got around to his new gig with us. Briefly talked about the difficulty he is having dealing with not having a viable roster to start off. Talked abut how EVERY game is important and losing a game in NOV can be the game that kills your chances to get an at large bid. Talked about the stress of coaching in college vs. the pros ( in the pros a team can go 8 and 7 and still get in the playoffs but if you do that in college you are essentially out of the post season). Interestingly, at the end he seriously shouted out to all the NIL agents to give him a call as he needed players. He is a really smooth and knowledgeable interview. A quality CKK really didn't have.

Watching the buildup.. it is HORRENDOUS.
