I won't apologize for Scrub or Trip. They're both grown ass men and know what they're about. I will apologize for you feeling unwelcome by their actions, and I would recommend that you try not to get too defensive or fired up about posts from them. They don't always reflect the position of the board, but they both love UNLV so their ire is seldom trolled our way. The unkind last decade of UNLV athletics has thinned even the diehards around here. I would say if you can't ignore them, then just block them. They're far more apt to spar with people who fight back.
Vegas is a TON more than just gambling. Restaurants, entertainment, nightlife, and great outdoors options all really close by. Everyone should experience the madness of the strip once at least--but don't waste money on tables if you don't gamble. See shows, music acts, go watch 44 games in a good sportsbook at once, eat at world class restaurants, and wander and people watch. But for most of us, one time on the strip is generally enough haha.
I think that OSU and Wazzoo INSTANTLY improve the football profile of this conference. Right now our media deal is 270 million a year for 6 years spread out over 11 schools (which amounts to 3.81 million per school roughly and 5.61 million a year to Boise St). I fully believe that having a west coast conference that plays higher end football will make a lot more money than that per year. Fox and NBC and CBS are going to want to fill those late timeslots and would pay more for an improved MWC. Though, I don't think we'll be getting even ACC money in our initial contract. I also think it lets us knock Boise state down their extra half share a year.
If I had my druthers, I would probably want to trim some of the fat of the conference and go with 12 teams leaving room for some expansion into other markets. Though, I don't know quite where to make those cuts right now. My heart says F Reno. My head also says F Reno. They're the dirtier version of Sparks and they know it. If only I could kick them out of the conference twice.
I also think there's a non-zero chance that the ACC implodes since FSU, Clemson, UNC, NCState, Miami, UVA, and VaTech have all explored options to leave and we can then Stanford and Cal will ahve to come crawling back and we can give them the SMU deal.
