MW Tournament

If the Rebels get far or not (probably not)

Man what a treat - This conference is entertaining as all hell this year - definitely crazy conference.

Maybe the Rebels will perform better at the T&M with a bunch of fans in the seats ??

Its going to be crazy - Could you imagine if you didn't get tickets and this was the year they got hot and made a run and punched their ticket to the dance ?????

slight chance - really but - hey you are a delusional Rebel fan (other wise you wouldn't be here :)........ I'm going to pop up to NC in March - but if I was around Vegas - Ya'll got some fine College bball in March to witness. Get some tickets - Dont watch it at a bar - Dont be a loser..

IF

I'm nearly positive CKK gets another year but if....

We need a coach we can afford while paying CKK 's salary for the next three years ( Although I've seen nothing on what happens if he takes another coaching job). I would like a coach who is a head coach at a winning program. Knows the West. Has a solid background. Can recruit.

Tod Simon, Mark Madsen. ( Both earn less than $ 400,000 ) Of the two, Mark Madsen is first.

Teams being viewed for expansion

I have been watching what teams are being viewed for expansion, and have noticed that it would only take a medium bump in attendance for UNLV to move towards the front based on attendance. The following is the 2022 attendance of teams being viewed for possible expansion (these are just teams that are talked about, and I am not looking at the merit of these programs being picked):

Hawaii 9,210 (warped numbers due to current lack of a stadium)
Louisiana Tech 15,082
SJSU 16,422
Utah State 16,954
Texas State 17,541
Rice 19,011
North Texas 19,025
Tulane 20,361
Liberty 20,954
UNLV 22.112
SMU 24,971
UTSA 26,835
Colorado State 26,891
Air Force 26,926
SDSU 29,892
Boise State 35,121
Fresno State 39,067

Based on what I can find from season ticket sales they currently have 5 sections that are sold out, and an additional 10 sections that are mostly or almost sold out (this doesn't include the student section which is blocked out from sales). Last season I believe UNLV only had two sections sold out and only 3-5 sections sold out when including the single game and walk up purchase of tickets during the season. Based on what I have been able to read, I expect UNLV will see at least a 20% bump in tickets sold. It wouldn't take much for UNLV to move up to a level similar to that of SDSU. In the 2022 season UNLV played Idaho State, North Texas, New Mexico, Air Force, Fresno State, and unr at home. In the 2023 season UNLV will play Bryant (no clue why this game is scheduled?), Vanderbilt, Hawaii, SJSU, CSU, Wyoming.

Against my better judgement

And not being completely inundated at work … I decided to take in a game tonight. I’d rather work a double with the second half a graveyard.

Based on body language and that sort of stuff - the stuff you don’t usually get to see on the tube, KK has lost this team. There’s no focus, they don’t care, there’s no trust, there’s no listening, there’s no camaraderie. I wouldn’t say this is the low for UNLV, we had to go through the Marvelous One, but just like him, we get swept by a bad SJSU team. I have no idea how he’s going to resurrect this program next season. This team has zero toughness, they’re ultra wimpy … tbh, I don’t care if any of them come back. Not that it would solve much of anything when we crap shoot the portal.

The crowd was awful, in terms of sighs and mumbles and the sheer lack of fans. No enthusiasm, not that these guys fans reason to get loud. It’s hard to believe this was once a great program. I‘m guessing this would be like marrying the gorgeous love of your life and within a few years she’s a toothless, cracked skin meth freak selling her ass on Boulder Highway for $5 a pop. It’s unrecognizable and just downright pathetic.

Maybe some of the kumbayists can point out something positive about the future that I don’t see. Not a ton of ifs or maybes … not any Hail Mary pitches … no pipe dreams … please name something positive on the horizon, I’m not seeing anything. Seems like we are reduced to closing our eyes and crossing our fingers as our best hope.

Best wins? Dayton and UNM? UNM are the same thing, wins against puffs for a fake record and then monumental collapse.

Reno

1 game behind the Aztecs. Reno has an easier schedule. They could be the conference champ or could tie ( lose in a tiebreaker).

Man-does that suck. But it shows how a good coaching hire can make a huge difference.

Also, something for our guys to play for in the last game. Could bump them out of the conference title.

OT:My nephew made the news..

His old school, Pinecrest Academy penalized him or ratted him out for transferring to Boulder City High School.

Really petty stuff out there. Now he may not play because of a “clerical” error

The Future…

Finally took a gander..

Big kid. Huge kid. Broken foot. Lots of potential here. Rest that foot and heal properly. He is a kid that chose to be here.
