Guessing UNLV to be a 5 point favorite in this one. AFA hasn't beaten anybody of worth, unless you count the same sub-500 freefalling Lobos that UNLV beat.

If AFA is patient, and they usually are, it might be a tight one, especially if UNLV is just playing out the string. I'd say the Rebels are, but I feel they played relatively well and focused at Boise. So I think the difference in overall athleticism and speed will put things in the Rebels favor. The game is "not important" in that both teams will be playing on the first night (highly likely unless one of the teams wins out, not happening) of the MWCT, but it certainly can have an impact on seeding which would impact the matchup. Rebels are 8th of 11, can fall to 9th of 11, but could (highly unlikely) climb to the 6th spot by the end of the season. Any way you slice it, it's a downright ugly, disgusting and underachieving season. It was the refs, it was injuries, blah, blah, blah.

Odom wants to build with high school players locally. He said will have a lot of 2024 commits and most of them showed up for junior day.

Zavier Carter is looked as an edge guy, but going to move him around. Starting LBs are looking like Carter, Scott and Eubank right now. Probably the most talent we’ve had at the position group in 20 years.

Odom likes having 2 main RBs (Davis and Reese will be fun to watch in this system) Sammy Green could be really interesting for 2024

Odom said there not done recruiting and will be another waive of signees in the spring.

Bo Edmunson tape looks great. Will be interesting between him and Maiva with who wins the job in two years.

Bam Amina probably could have gotten a scholarship, but is coming in as preferred walk on sense he’s a local from Gorman.

Really like our top assistants. With Marion’s system should be able to manufacture a lot of yards on the ground with the buildup of Oline and misdirection plays. Sherer knows Odom’s defensive system well and has done a good job developing linebackers. Shiber seems like a steal for special teams previously coaching at the top programs in the country.

This was one of the biggest BS delays i have ever witnessed in person. We had them on the ropes and they allowed Emery to like take what seemed like a eternity to find his contact and put it back in. He is a really nice player who could get serious minutes almost anywhere in the country.

But it's got to wear on any player to know that he needs to score at least 20 pts. to win. It has to be a mental weight to know that all an opposing team needs to do is limit your production and you'll lose. That there really is no alternative but you.

Bad for Harkless, but it demonstrates how bad our recruiting has become. Back in the day there were always three or four players that could step up on any night. If only two were playing well we would win. If all were on, it would be a blowout.

But now we are down to one guy. Sucks.

A good defensive player may slow down a good offensive player but in the end the offense is gonna score. I understand that CKK wants to put a good defensive team on the floor but it breaks down completely when you have 2 guys that routinely score less than 5 points. Would you rather have Parquet hold a 17 pt per game scorer under his average to 14 pts and score 0 pts himself or have Hall play and let that guy score 22 but Hall gives you 17pts? Harkless gave you -14 in production and Hall gives you -5 its in production. Give me the offense.

No matter what philosophy you come up with you have to outscore the other team to win the game. Impossible to do that when you consistently have 3-4 guys you cannot count on to put points on the board. Going forward I would love to see 8-9 offensive guys on the team and CKK just has to tell them that the guys that play the best D will see the floor the most. Defense is a matter of pride and desire and anyone that is talented offensively can achieve a level of proficiency on that end of the floor especially if playing time is attached to it.

Recruiting 101, don't recruit anybody that isn't a scorer and can't make free throws. The only exception being a power forward or center that can consistently grab 12- 20 rebounds. One more time now, if you want to win games you have to score more points than the other team and if you only have 1 or 2 guys you can count on it is soooo much easier for the other team to come up with a scheme to slow them down and win the game.
