MWC Transfer Portal

Portal additions will play a huge part next season in our conference like we've never seen before. I actually like it and think it'll make the conference more competitive and bring more attention.

Nelly Junior Joseph, Mustapha Amzil, and Jemarl Baker plus the returning core of House, Dent, and Mashburn is tough.

Roddie Anderson, Cam Martin, and Omar Stanley with the returning core of Rice, Degenhart, Agbo is also is very good.

Dixon Waters to an always tough SDSU team.

However, I really like the Boones and Hill and what they bring to our roster in terms of scoring, toughness, and flexibility. I think it'll be one of the most exciting conference seasons.

Yea we are good enough for .......

Login to view embedded media and a NBA team here in less than 5 ,but yet these Power 5 conferences have not included us yet??? Make it make sense. If you want to draw interest in your team and conference then UNLV should be at the TOP of everyones list and i mean EVERYBODY! The excitement VEGAS brings to any sporting event is amplified multiple times vs anywhere else in the country and its not even close. The shortsightedness is astonishing. The road trips for fans of opposing teams would be at the bare mininum 100x plus at the minimum for any game they play here. I dont want to here rhetoric about us not winning . Plenty of bottom dwellers in Power 5 conferences that have nothing to offer and have done nothing. Academics ?? We are improving rapidly and what % of kids on scholarships make a living off the degrees IF they get one ? Almost none. They have ZERO interest in those kids its a farce. We qualify. Other than the winning part and with inclusion that would of should solve that easily.

Harkless compared to Hill

Harkless vs Hill last year at Oklahoma.

Harkless Games - 26 Minutes- 29 FG%- 42 3Pt % - 32 Pts.- 10

Hill Games - 32 Minutes- 32 FG%- 49 3Pt % - 29 Pts.- 9.7

Very similar. Hopefully, Hill can break out like Harkless. The game disparity was due to Harkless missing the last six games of the season due to injury. It looks like Harkless was more hot and cold and Hill was more consistent.

Big game today. What’s your feeling?

Every time we play there I remember a picture of growling Anthony Marshall vs UNM that someone captioned “ABQ don’t mess with northtown Vegas” (or something to that effect). I can’t find the pic, but it was awesome.

Rebs need some of that tonight.

Well, HOLY $#!T!

After a year and 4 months... Rivals/Yahoo customer support finally sent my account details to the "engineers" to figure out why I couldn't log in. I paid for 4 months (Dec 2021 through Mar 2022), and couldn't access the boards. Eventually I had to cancel... but tried to get customer support to fix the issue multiple times throughout 2022, and finally after opening a ticket a few weeks ago, AGAIN, the issue got elevated and fixed... crazy af, but I guess I'm back...what did I miss?

What’s the future?

It looks like it was a pretty good weekend for the coach I wanted fired at season’s end but he has salvaged a nice start to recruiting. My question is what or should I say who is next… Sharp WKU, Allen SUU, Davis UCI or some mystery player yet to be named? I’ve heard about Dedan’s kid potentially being interested but I want to know about transfers with experience that we are interested in… Thoughts

Exciting News!

Exciting news used to appear on Rebel-net. Exciting news used to be leaked from some staff members. Exciting news about a T&M bigtime opponent used to happen.
But now days, everything is hush hush. Stupid on Krugers part. We need rumors. We need excitement. Lot’s of visits yesterday and no reports on how things went? Our attendance is abysmal. We must step it up with exciting players and an exciting home schedule. This quiet lack of any information flowing regime is starting to bother me. Me, being a long time Rebel fan and all….

Not going to post

Dollar amounts because I’m not certain. I’ve heard a range of numbers that UNLV can afford for NILs. I don’t know how accurate it is.

But even if I take the lowest numbers I’ve heard, no, it’s not some huge number, it’s a drop in the bucket nationally but it’s far more than what we were using last season. If last year had this years plan, the UNM center would be here. There is some money to play with … it will attract good players. Not great players, we aren’t coming close to hitting Miami’s 2.2M per year, not a little bit close … but it’s several times more than last year.

Glad to see they are improving things. I hate the speed in which UNLV moves with nearly everything, this included, it was coming down the pike and UNLV saw it and did little. The center from UNM last season instead of our two statues would have probably given UNLV 3-4-5 more wins alone. But I guess it’s better late than never.

But we ARE going to need ROI. And I do think it’s going to have to be immediate ROI.

School Ticket Giveaway Question

Maybe it’s happened through the years and I just didn’t notice, but does the athletic department give blocks of tickets away to local public schools for the lower tier opponents on the schedule? Or maybe certain school organizations like deca or rotc?

I know generally winning cures all, but with the level of general apathy in the last two plus decades, my concern is we’ve skipped two generations of unlv fan adoption. So many were born out of the golden era and unfortunately I think a lot of the hardcore fans from that era that were not teens or young adults, some of those folks pass and we just never recovered them with young fans.

I’m curious if the school maybe doesn’t give a bunch away because they can’t then write them off as a non sale loss or some accounting issue, or they just don’t have the bandwidth to run a ccsd program like that. You would think many freebie tickets would get subsidized by concessions.

Do something for recognition, or an entire class, slap them up on the Jumbotron a number of times, announce them over the PA, let them take all their selfies, and hopefully have an entertaining bball game to make a few trigger their future fandom.

We have tons of pockets to draw from.. CCSD, Nellis AFB, pride organizations, youth sports orgs, Latin chamber, etc, etc.

What do we have to lose, other than the team getting unexpectedly good and having to claw back on giveaways?

We need youth indoctrination!
