Are we a preferred destination?

Now that we have 2 former SEC coaches on staff at UNLV football are we the Top destination for group of 5 talent?? Their were 2 G5 schools in the season ending Top 25 poll with #23 UTSA and #24 Troy. I would like to think that we are a better location than San Antonio or Troy Alabama. I believe the coaching change has made us a little bit more Attractive to recruits and players in the portal. As you can see I am looking past the MWC and focusing on National recruiting.

OT: Proud Dad Moment!

I wanted to thank those of you that followed along with our story over the years. It's been an amazing journey.

My son started reading at 3, started K at 4, started homeschooling in 5th grade, graduated high school at 14 then took classes online at LSU and took classes online at UL Lafayette at 15. He officially started college at UL at 16. He turned 20 in September.

Today, he graduated Magna Cum Laude, with Honors from UL Lafayette with a BS in Computer Science.

I couldn't be prouder.

OT: Grant Wahl

Wow, talk about shocking. So young and the guy was very talented, just a really good journalist. I never met him, but by all accounts, a really good dude.

Details surrounding his sudden death are just as sketchy as they are shocking. Too young to happen. He was complaining of being sick but was Covid negative … but still collapsed and died.

No, I’m not blaming the vax. I don’t know. But it doesn’t seem like that because he had an active infection. It will be interesting to see what they isolate upon autopsy.

This seems to be more sinister being in an intolerant country and having some views (and loudly voicing those views) that run counter to that countries (Qatar, he was covering the cup) culture.

In the end, it’s terribly tragic regardless of the cause. But whatever the cause - natural, intentional, unintentional … i hope it is uncovered with transparency.

James Shibest to staff- Special Teams

I like the fact that we have a defensive minded HC, which I fully believe is key to wining championships. I’m also enjoying the experienced staff being added. Focus on all three phases!!

Maybe this should be a separate post but I was just picturing if Sanchez was brought in as a wide receiver coach. Great recruiter- especially local, which is a focus. Also very good with top boosters… only reason for the currant facilities. I heard he already had plans for an indoor practice facility drawn up for the next phase!! I’m just saying, he loves Vegas too and his family is very familiar. Would love to see something like that.

Was messaging with Rockwall (TX) wide receiver Aiden Meeks today and he shared that he’ll be taking an official visit to UNLV this weekend.

Meeks is unranked but don’t let that fool you. This past season he put up 1346 total yards and 8 touchdowns. He was named 1st team all-district at both wide receiver and return specialist. He’s also really fast - he was timed at a 11.13 100 meter this past spring.

His dad is former Texas Tech safety Vincent Meeks who was an All-Big 12 selection in the mid 2000’s.

Anyways, just thought I’d pass along. His original offer from UNLV came back in August per his Twitter.
