Bigger Bowl Game?

Obviously the Las Vegas bowl game against Arkansas was bigger deal than the Heart of Dallas bowl against UNT.

Where does this bowl stack up do you think?

Arkansas is a SEC school with a bigger name, but they were that great at the time, and the SEC wasn't as dominant at the time either.

Kansas was ranked most of the year and beat some legit good team this year. They historically have not been a good football program, but I think it is safe to say that this Kansas team is a better and more relevant team than the Arkansas team we played 20 years ago at least within the season.

Unlv on field success turns into financial success. (Article)

Huge write up on unlv football, the financials, the momentum etc. Good article by Howard Stutz, spread the word if you can.

Harper, who became UNLV’s athletic director in January 2022 after serving as senior associate athletic director for development for nine years, said success on the field has directly translated to improved finances for the program off the field.

In addition to increased football ticket sales, he said last week that the school has seen a revenue boost from team merchandise sales and private donations sought through the Rebel Up campaign, an effort to raise $150 million to enhance the entire UNLV athletic program.

News conference - Bowl announcement

Thought White showed a bit of his current mind set on where he’ll be next year with his comments. I sense a strong brotherhood with this team… it will be interesting to see. Imagine everyone stays and grows, AND you bring in competition- that’s how you start to win Championships IMO. Another thing I noticed is the players reaction on the comment coach made with the fans that showed up for the championship. I’m not happy with the outcome, none of us are, but I’m very happy with what’s being built!

Coordinators

Our defense, and DC, are both works in progress. Not terrible for year one but we definitely need to improve.

OC - did the Go Go get a little exposed lately? Better coaching will do better to defend against it.

I think that we can improve vastly on both sides of the ball and want to retain both coordinators if we can. Just pointing out what needs work.

Our ST coach is a keeper for sure.

Ticket Sales for MWC championship

It looks like sections 138-140 have been reserved for Boise State. Also any seats from season ticket holders have been reserved until Tuesday for those who had season tickets to purchase those seats. Since I was not sure who could go to games with me, I purchased one set of three games, and after I found out who could go, I then purchase individual tickets to two of the other three games, so wasn't able to get season tickets this year (will be getting them next year, and my brother may also be considering purchasing season tickets for the first time). It should be noted that the seats I purchased individually all went in the first hour or two, so we ended up buying a group of seats a little higher up in the same secton.

As quick as tickets are selling is due to UNLV keeping the prices much lower than normal. There is only one section of $125 per ticket, and all the remaining sections $75 or less. The majority of the seats for sale are for $20-$40.

I wonder if they will open another section if ticket sales warrant it?

Postseason play

One thing lost on us making it to the Championship game and to a bowl game is all of the extra practice time that the coaches will have with the players. So many times our season has ended as of the last regular season game with no extra work allowed by our staffs. This season, we have the benefit of extra time developing players for the future, as well as preparing for two games that we normally wouldn't have played in.

This is big, if you ask me.
