He transferred from K-State to Miami. HIS NIL WAS $800,000 FOR TWO YEARS (AND A CAR). At Miami he didn't do anywhere near as well as he did at K-State. Miami is playing tomorrow night - but not because of him. He's tied for fourth in scoring on the team. Third in assists. 5th in rebounds. A good player, but not that good.

UNLV BASKETBALL:

Mike Mitchell eyed as early portal target to join Kruger’s squad​

A source says Mitchell is considering the possibility of entering the transfer portal, which could be a boon for UNLV if coach Kevin Kruger and company can lure the rising star to Las Vegas.

Are we seeing the transfer portal starting to show a benefit towards mid-majors/ non power schools? Look at who is currently still in the tournament. That’s teams have benefitted from the transfer portal also have players who are older and more experienced. SDSU has 4 guys who are 5th year players. Gonzaga is another one. I also think the extra Covid year has benefitted teams outside of the blue bloods because they are still recruiting the 5 star HS kids who are still 19yr olds. Already starting to see people complain about the blue bloods not being in it right now and how the tournament is diluted right now. Could see this year being a focal point for them starting their own tournament. Also what a golden opportunity for who is still in it… no number one seeds left in the elite 8, makes it a legit shot to make it to the title game.

Beating Bama at the half. Makes me hate them even more if that is possible.

He's good enough to turn TCU around then moves on to Creighton and helps them to at least an elite 8....But he's not good enough to run this dumpster fire over Muchies...One last thing Uconn's pub is not doing UNLV or Las Vegas any favors with college hoops.....This has been a fun tourney all in all....SDSU is playing like grown men....

I knew basketball was decent in Washington. But after digging a little I had no clue as to how good. In fact, it reminds a lot of Indiana high school basketball in the talent it produces and fan interest. On talent, for example Jamaal Williams was the head coach of Seattle Rotary a Nike AAU team for 5 years. While Jamaal was the head coach for Seattle Rotary they produced 4 McDonalds AA’s and 4 of his players are on current NBA rosters. But it’s actually more amazing than that. Seattle Rotary had 4 of its players drafted in the 2019 NBA draft! Think about that for a second:

Philadelphia 76’s #20 Matisse Thybulle (2015 Eastside Catholic HS) – Matisse was always a high level defender and athlete, but he was not viewed as a sure shot future NBA draftee if you asked anyone when he was in high school. The three-star recruit proved his worth as an elite defender at UW and between that and his character, he quickly gained momentum among the NBA front offices. Matisse played for Darryl Hennings on the Northwest Xpress experiment, which was a collaboration between ICP (Portland, OR) and Seattle Rotary of Washington.

Cleveland Cavs #30 Kevin Porter Jr. ( 2018 Rainier Beach HS) – The most naturally gifted player out of the four Washington guys selected. Porter has displayed elite talent dating back to his days with A-Plus, before joining Rotary on the EYBL Circuit. He has drawn some comparisons to James Harden due to his shiftiness, step back jumpers and brute strength from the off guard position.

Minnesota Timberwolves #43 Jaylen Nowell 2017 (Garfield HS) – The king of the mid-range has been scorching nets since elementary school with Seattle Rotary. He put together one of the best high school resumes of any Seattle basketball player in recent memory and followed that up with a strong couple years with UW. The Pac-12 Player of the Year is the second player to be drafted by the T-Wolves from Washington, with Zach LaVine (2013 Bothell) being the other in 2014.

Charlotte Hornets #52 Jalen McDaniels (2016 Federal Way HS) – The fourth Seattle Rotary alumni selected in the 2019 NBA Draft hails from Federal Way. Jalen is a gym rat with all of the tools to help an NBA team as he continues to get stronger and sure up his jump shot. Jalen grew up in the Rotary program and it would be little surprise to hear his younger brother’s name be called in 12 months.

I see a number of Texas Tech players in the portal. Would our ex-Texas Tech guy have interest or be able to land some of these guys?

I have noticed several uncalled flops after a season of calling every single one of them. Why change the rules during the tournament? Be consistent or change the rule back.

That's what we need to do to land Graham Ike. Just hopped in the portal this morning.

As the title says I haven’t been here in a while, and apparently my username is now racist for some reason. I still watch games except for the year I boycotted the Menzie’s hiring.

Can someone just sum up what the problem is? How is it possible that it all went so wrong? Are we lagging behind in facilities? Are we really just THAT bad at finding a coach? 10 years is a bit much for no post-season hoops.

I happily admit that I was wrong about wanting Kruger Sr. gone when I did, he deserved whatever he wanted and I’m sorry for not realizing that, but there has to be a systemic problem that I’m missing at this point, and I am not local to Vegas to have a frame of reference.

Lunardi: My gut reaction is that the entire field seems to have parted for UConn, which still hasn't lost to a non-Big East team. Of course, the Huskies still have to get past Gonzaga in Las Vegas -- no gimme -- and it's worth noting they were just 1-3 against Creighton and Xavier in the regular season.

I have an issue with ESPN. If your not on it, your team sucks. The Zags will probably beat U Conn in a tough game. Timme and the Zags have had big men on their roster, played vs them and the team that should have been a number one seed, Texas beat the daylights out of them. Times have changed since then as Malachi has shown up and the rest of the Zags improved team defense. Teams that should have not been overlooked are SDSU who had that puzzling loss to UNM and Miami who beat the crud out of Duke. Right now the four best teams are Texas, Zags, Miami, and U Conn with Creighton a tough out. No one wants to play SDSU who can have four players with four fouls and not even slow down. Great job, Aztecs
