A little smoke….Graney….

Playing devil's advocate.

CINCY/WVU/UCF are stranded a bit. The assumption is always Memphis/Tulane and USF being in play for the ACC if they need to reload. I think the BIG 12 could look at any of those schools to lend CINCY/UCF/WVU a hand with another travel partner.
Yep, when the P2 decide to grab more schools they will all come from the ACC and BIG12. Assunming the both want to get to 24 schools than means 6 to the BIG and 8 to the SEC, so they need a total of 14 schools.

FSU, Clemson, UNC, Duke and Miami (5 schools) all are locks to leave from the ACC.
UVA, BC, Syracuse, NC State, GaTech and Stanford probably next five.

Im not sure there ar eany locks in the Big12, but Id think Kansas, Utah, UofA would be first 3 choices??? CU, ASU, Houston, OkST after that obviously there could be others but for this Ill use those.

So above are 16 schools to fill 14 sots in the P2 (BIG/SEC)

the next two conferences whatever they will be called ACC/Big12 or something else would have 19 existing schools left and probably would want to get back to at least 32 schools, so that leaves 13 to grab from current Group of schools. UNLV and SDSU would be locks as would Oregon State, Wassu, Memphis, Tulane and many others.

Mullen is a goofy guy but make no mistake he is a man on a mission. His intensity and work ethic is probably top ten in the country.

In addition to that, Mullen has fill the defensive staff with some NFL pedigree. Guenther coached up Burfict at Cincinnati and I think with the Raiders. Gruden also had Burfict on his show recently. So Burfict has some coaching connections and it could be a seamless transition for him at UNLV as the LBer coach. Though that’s not official.
Its a reason why he's had so much success building programs in the best conference in football despite going against the top tier coaches of today in the SEC...

That would be a, "Burfitct" fit, if he was to ever become UNLV's LB Coach someday.

Mullen, has come out with a passion with 3 straight LB's committing to UNLV.
After, LB Charles Correa got tampered with to Purdue.

Have you been to snapdragon? In order to host a major event like a Super Bowl, they’d need ALOT more features/amenities than just 15k more seats.
Have you seen Jack Murphy/quallcomm when they hosted the SB 20 years ago? It was a dump then. New Orleans isn’t a great venue, ditto Miami. Phoenix is alright, Dallas is awesome.

It’s less about the venue and more about the location because it’s more about the atmosphere for the whole week. In 2006 they had it at Detroit, decent stadium but there’s not a lot to do. Ditto Minnesota etc. The only cold weather location that worked was New York, and that was probably a one time thing.

They really screwed up, 50k and they would be considered for the power conferences AND hosting a Super Bowl or Championship game, Chargers etc

They really ****ed up at 35k.
It wasnt getting funded at the higher/larger stadium.. Thats one of the reasons/selling points on the "future expansion" capabilities they designed into the stadium to allow for a shorter renovation period to expand capacity. It was a bridge to get them a stadium but itll likely never get expanded.

I agree on the facilities and specifically Snapdragon. 35k capacity will not cut it for a Big 12 football stadium. Last year UNLV had 40k plus for the Reno game. UNLV is turn key and has facilities for major sports football and basketball as good as any if not better than any in the Big 12. What gets overlooked with Alligiant is the fact that UNLV has their own locker rooms, offices and field. All UNLV needs to do is continue to win.

Big 12 map. UNLV will fit in very nicely geographically with BYU, UU, ASU, UA and CU.

Nobody wants Whaley?

They’ll probably all “do better”. His “no system”system didn’t make a single player better. The team cohesiveness was not strong. There was zero mental toughness.

It was a really bad era. It really was a wasted four years. It’s easy to get 18 wins. Anybody could do that. You get at least 10-12 freebies in conference and there’s always half a dozen scrubs in OOC. It’s not something to hang your hat on, unless you play in a top 5 conference and play a top 50 OOC. And we don’t do either.
This. I mean some guys he took all their potential and shoved it to the bench because they were more comfortable just rolling the ball out on the court and playing rather than following his lack of direction direction... Hall has flourished since Kevin refused to give him more playing time as a freshman because he was making freshman mistakes in between being a really good 7-8 guy. Its not a real fair comparison to say "Oh man, Id like to have seen Josh keep him" if next year a few of these guys go for like 15/10... mainly because thats probably what their true potential was and CKK never got it out of players not named Bryce and Harkless.
