A little smoke….Graney….

I agree on the facilities and specifically Snapdragon. 35k capacity will not cut it for a Big 12 football stadium. Last year UNLV had 40k plus for the Reno game. UNLV is turn key and has facilities for major sports football and basketball as good as any if not better than any in the Big 12. What gets overlooked with Alligiant is the fact that UNLV has their own locker rooms, offices and field. All UNLV needs to do is continue to win.
They really screwed up, 50k and they would be considered for the power conferences AND hosting a Super Bowl or Championship game, Chargers etc

They really ****ed up at 35k.

It wasnt getting funded at the higher/larger stadium.. Thats one of the reasons/selling points on the "future expansion" capabilities they designed into the stadium to allow for a shorter renovation period to expand capacity. It was a bridge to get them a stadium but itll likely never get expanded.

Have you been to snapdragon? In order to host a major event like a Super Bowl, they’d need ALOT more features/amenities than just 15k more seats.
Have you seen Jack Murphy/quallcomm when they hosted the SB 20 years ago? It was a dump then. New Orleans isn’t a great venue, ditto Miami. Phoenix is alright, Dallas is awesome.

It’s less about the venue and more about the location because it’s more about the atmosphere for the whole week. In 2006 they had it at Detroit, decent stadium but there’s not a lot to do. Ditto Minnesota etc. The only cold weather location that worked was New York, and that was probably a one time thing.

Playing devil's advocate.

CINCY/WVU/UCF are stranded a bit. The assumption is always Memphis/Tulane and USF being in play for the ACC if they need to reload. I think the BIG 12 could look at any of those schools to lend CINCY/UCF/WVU a hand with another travel partner.
Yep, when the P2 decide to grab more schools they will all come from the ACC and BIG12. Assunming the both want to get to 24 schools than means 6 to the BIG and 8 to the SEC, so they need a total of 14 schools.

FSU, Clemson, UNC, Duke and Miami (5 schools) all are locks to leave from the ACC.
UVA, BC, Syracuse, NC State, GaTech and Stanford probably next five.

Im not sure there ar eany locks in the Big12, but Id think Kansas, Utah, UofA would be first 3 choices??? CU, ASU, Houston, OkST after that obviously there could be others but for this Ill use those.

So above are 16 schools to fill 14 sots in the P2 (BIG/SEC)

the next two conferences whatever they will be called ACC/Big12 or something else would have 19 existing schools left and probably would want to get back to at least 32 schools, so that leaves 13 to grab from current Group of schools. UNLV and SDSU would be locks as would Oregon State, Wassu, Memphis, Tulane and many others.

Product of compromise. You could tell when they originally didn't build in shade. I recall from their opening day that some 200 people had heatstroke.

It's part of their metrics. Built in excuse as to why the seats are empty. People are in the concourse or in the walkways watching on screens because it's too hot outside in the sun. lol. Their ticket sales are plummeting.

They said that after pics from the first game showed more people in the concourse than in the seats, or at least a large portion in the concourse.

"It was hotter than normal that day" was the excuse.
Yes, you plan ahead for that. You don't leave it as-is and give fans a reason not to attend (I'm talking to you, Silver Bowl... yes, I went there. I hated either sweating my butt off or freezing that same big booty in the cooler months. Maybe one game per year was 'nice').
