PAC will get to 8 teams. WE all know that.

We will have a better what everyone is worth within the next 2 years. We are all just guessing.

But lets say this. Assuming that all MW are basically the same with a small delta in worth. Why would the PAC run far, far away from the idea of a merger? If that were the case, the payout of a merged conference would be about the same as creating their own conference. It would also cost zero fees, it would have been likely a reverse merger, they would keep the PAC name, most of their "war chest" and they would have solidified the best G5 conference.

Could it be, that the delta within the mountain west is pretty big. They knew their worth from their partners and realized it was worth all of the exorbitant up front costs to create a new conference? Sharing with the doldrums of the MW would be too much to take?

Follow the money. That is what this is all about, it always has been, it always will.
They had 250 million or so reasons... MWC didn't want the Pac 12 brand and if they lost the conference they lose all the money... the lawsuit settlement doesn't just give them all the cash, it gives them control of it but if the conference fails to be a conference, the money then gets split back to everyone..
So yeah, there's probably a delta, probably be bigger had Memphis and Tulane jumped, will ot be astronomical, no, but the 2 currently voting members are getting buckets of cash to maintain the conference and pay out amongst themselves that's why they didn't just merge...

You suck Bull. I bet that's not even your dog. You probably have a Shitsu or Pekinese.

That said, I have to link the "24/7" WSU fan site below (hope I'm not violating any rules, my Rivals site has none as we have no moderator). Article after article (most of them "premium", but you can read a paragraph or two in each), trumpeting our incoming coaches (NONE of the first six have ANY FBS experience - 7 including our HC) and our 10-14 transfers from SDSU. To date I don't believe that WSU has ANY FBS transfers in. Plenty of outs.

Kind of a side note: Our best RB left us for the Utes. Luckily we have 2 decent young RB's left who had meaningful game time this year. But wait, he have hired SDSU's RB coach and guess what? He's bringing 3 RB's with him!

And my Board? Well let's see, today we (not me) are still arguing over COVID vaxxing ala Rolovich's firing 3 years ago. And a thread about how SDSU would have kicked our ass this year. From posters that I can pretty much guarantee have never watched an SDSU game.

So yes I am jealous. Now hurry up and reverse course and join the Pac-7.

Oh, and regarding Ramen - I cook with Ramen. Step one is to throw out the salt-laden spice packet. I make it to go with the Asian dishes I prepare when I am bored with brown rice.

Dog in picture is actually my Staffordshire Bull Terrier...Hazel.

Have had Bullmastiff's for years. Best dogs ever.

Not sure where we go from here. If football was still producing two wins per season we’d all likely be pushing for Harp to find $2-3M for a quality HC with a winning record. As it is now I don’t want spending on MBB to cost us in football, which is our only path to long-term sustainability. I guess Harp looks for a diamond in the rough of coaches commanding what we’re paying CKK today. Hope I’m wrong but I don’t see the depth in the community to bring in donors for both football and basketball.
There is no way that anyone here knows this for sure!
Everyone always quotes this tired money narrative.

Harper has hired 2 good coaches in football and I bet he can find the right former hoops HC without breaking the bank!

Let’s see what happens come March!

This coming from the PAC which has done nothing right in the last decade?

He has figured out how to hire football coaches and I believe he can find the right former HC for hoops and whoever that might be, he won’t cost as much as many of the Rebel-net naysayers think!

Until the PAC has a contract or even eight teams, they don't have anything at all! You can argue the market penetration of NIU with sold grounds, but the same argument can be made for almost the entire MWC as well as the two PAC teams that have very little market penetration in their perspective markets. Washington State and Oregon State were to the PAC12 what Vanderbilt's of the SEC or Northwestern of The Big are in regards to their prospective conferences. There would be a zero negative impact if dropped from their prospective conferences. Believing that those two schools had anything at all to do with the PAC $30 million deal is interesting, in fact if those two schools had been dumped, the average pay per school would have gone up by millions.
