ND did drop a game to NIU of all teams.I think Madsen is really good actually.
Youre right about Sherrod though. I don't see Boise losing to anyteam besides Notre Dame on their schedule though, including probably us, but you never know until you play the game.
Im interested to see how good Danielson is as a HC, this year will be an interesting test. Also they just have brand power, having been in the CFP last year, so I can see them getting the benefit of the doubt and being ranked pretty fast.
I even think that ND game is winnable, ND is vulnerable to dumb losses.
For the Rebels I feel like that Sam Houston game is going to tell us a ton. First games are always a a little wonky, I'm worried about dropping that one, even though Sam Houston ain't good
I didn't know that. Yeah, that will have an impact for sure. Though I'd imagine whoever they brought in will try to bring in some of his guys also.Head Coach left to take the Temple job. Lost quite a few dudes on the defensive side of the ball in the portal.
Sam Houston is a very good program. Kind of worried about that one being the first out of the gate.Sam Houston was pretty good last season. They went 10-3 and won their bowl game 31-26 vs Georgia Southern. On the season, Sam Houston lost @ UCF, vs W. Kentucky, and @ Jacksonville State. They also beat Rice, Hawaii, Texas State, Utep and Liberty.
I have no ideas what they've added or lost in terms of graduation, portal, etc, but I'm not expecting them to be a push over by any means.

I think Madsen is really good actually. Some people talk like BSU was mediocre before Jeanty and that's where they'll go back to. Ashton was a generational talent at this level, no question. Heck, he broke Cedric Minter's BSU rushing records that had stood since the late 70's, and Minter never made the NFL, though he was pretty good in the CFL for years. Anyway, back to now.... Gaines got hurt early last season vs Oregon, missed a couple games, tried it again vs Portland St, aggravated it, then was shut down for the season. They thought maybe he'd be able to play vs Penn St, but didn't. They said he was gonna participate in Spring, but didn't. At this point, he's Henry Buckley. They will very much be RB by committee. Malik Sherrod, transfer from Fresneck, made a strong case in the spring.
WR room is pretty shaky. Cam Camper, last year's leader, is in Jags camp. Prince Strachan was expected to be a leader, but he transferred to USC. Latrell Caples is pretty good. They are very young and don't have a deep threat. Chris Marshall is their X-factor, but he's like Gaines, lotsa talent, can't get on the field. Lots of opportunity for the young guys, although the staff is beating the bushes for a more "mature" WR to add to the mix. TE Matt Lauter is an NFL talent.
They have a veteran OL, which is good for them because if Madsen gets hurt they will be in deep doo doo. Outside of Maddux, I think there might be a total of one CFB pass thrown in that room.
The defense has some good pieces, but LB Simpson was gonna play a big role and he portaled. Their all-time leading kicker, Dalmas, graduated, and their punter, Ferguson-Reynolds, took his 43-yard avg to Oregon. Special teams, which cost them the Oregon game, will be an adventure, even moreso than last year.
Putting all this together, I'd say the Broncos have their work cut out for them. Don't know if they're Top 20, but don't think so until they earn it. If they can go into South Bend no worse than 4-1 maybe they won't embarrass themselves. They have a lot of questions to answer. For the most part, though, they always seem to get things worked out and be good. If our enthusiasm for the Fighting Mullens is born out, this may very well be the year the streak ends.
We have a lot of unknowns as well on both sides of the ball and in key positions. I’m really interested in seeing how this team performs. Expecting some shakiness early in the season and just hope we don’t drop a game that makes it impossible for us to catch up and be positioned for MWCC and a CFO spot.
I think that depends how big SEC and the BIG go when they decide enough is enough. The Big12 is going to get hit aswell. But both conferences will still have 8-10 teams. Both will still be in better position than the new pac. If it’s between mwc pac and ACC definitely take ACC.The ACC isnt the place...
Travel would suck, the money wont be there, the programs that dont get picked up from the SEC and Big 10 expansion wont be anywhere near the value to make coast to coast travel worthwhile... itll be a better version of the Pac 2's leftovers... east coast programs that no one wanted
The Big 12 is the place to aim for and is the solution we need to be a part of.
I really do hate SDSU.Nice that New Mexico also made the tournament, while SDSU (MWC champions) didn't make it!
