My rules for Coach Pastner:

Buy your house on the western side of Las Vegas
Do not feel obliged to recruit Dedan back. Plenty of faster better up tempo guards out there.
Never wear black uniforms. Only Red Gray or white.
Schedule at least two big Thomas & Mack games so the home crowd has something to look forward to.
Never play on the Strip. Locals hate the Strip to play at.
Play up tempo and aggressive.
Do not bring back Hey Reb
Cancel the movie presentation during the light show which needs a total revamp.
Win some local recruiting battles.
I’m sure I forgot some things.
Welcome to Las Vegas Coach. We are all hoping you bring back some Runnin….
Your list is ASS.
It should only have one thing and you didn’t even have it on your list.

OT: Sports Journalists and Sportswriters over the years, who were best and who were the worst?

Ryan Greene did a really good job for the Sun...
Ed Graney one probably the worse based on longevity and him blocking every UNLV fan that disagrees with him
Joe Hawk from the RJ back during Tark days. He always seemed to hate tark. Had radio show similar to Graney. Him and Colin Herd. Tied for worse.

New assistant/staff speculation

We dodged one there. When I first saw our guy's background I thought to myself he looks like head coach material. Hopefully, we still have him.

From what I had heard from local San Diego media the chances of UCSD hiring from the outside were around 0%, the fact that they announced their internal hire about 30 seconds after UNM announced their new HC confirms the local guys were right.

MWC & PAC Mediation Discussion for Poaching & Exit Fees

Sorry, and no offense, I know you drunken whore-mongerers tend to slur your posts. :) but your post makes no sense.

"They could've agreed with the split and then shared the payout all members would've received" What? What payout? The $65 from the traitors that we only got when we sued? The $100M Rose Bowl contract money - Payable to the Pac-12 Conference? Hey - no conference, no money. That's why the reverse merger was the only logical course. The only thing that would have been to distribute is future NCAA BB credits, which I believe would have been distributed to all former members if the Conference disbanded.

And, even if there was "payout", are you saying that the Pac-2 should have shared OUR money with the WAC, beyond a modest entry fee? Or in case of the reverse merger, shared what become our windfall with MW schools? Why would we do that? Our mere presence, like it or not, would have been good for the entire conference. Mighta even kept the LV or Holiday Bowl.

And finally, F-yeah we wanted that ton of money. Would you walk away from it?
1- yes, you split the basketball payouts and join a conference that actually wanted you.
2. shared money- no, you got your payday after being left out, you accept reality and join the MWC pay the entry fee of 18 million or whatever it is and we go get a kick ass TV media deal that pays 15 million a year as the best G5 conference in all sports.

No, but I also wouldnt come crying foul play and saying you were forced into signing an agreement that forces you to pay a penalty if you try and tear the conference apart that helps you out... How much market value were you willing to shed to play in CUSA or WAC for 2 years to avoid paying a penalty should you poach the conference that said "sure, we can schedule you, it helps us both"...

MWC & PAC Mediation Discussion for Poaching & Exit Fees

The only reason the 2 members held together was a ton of money and their looming extremely large debt... They could've agreed with the split and then shared the payout all members would've received and been welcomed into the MWC open arms. Instead they got big eyes and sued, won and were then forced to find a way to schedule games for their programs. All in an attempt to get a ton of money due to them in spite for being left behind.

I don't disagree with you at all. My point was solely from a business standpoint.
Marketing matters.

Is McDonald's any good? No, it's crap that calls itself food. But when you have Michael and Larry playing Horse for MJ's bag of McD's, all of a sudden millions of people crave their stuff.

I get the economics for sure. I have little problem with the contract really, simply due to that fact.

I have more of a problem with the media exposure they get. Similar to to Cowboys. What should a second tier team that hasn't made the playoffs get so much coverage and take prime time game slots? Now I get the economics and the metrics of that too. Because people are watching and they are getting ratings.

Just like the Cowboys.

Though unlike the Cowboys, CU doesn't have a huge established fanbase around the country. I do think the intrigue will eventually start to drop, at least nationally. If they continue to miss the playoffs and not get over the hump at least.

My rules for Coach Pastner:

Tbh the fire works show is kind of embarrassing and I wouldn't mind doing away with it and yes, West side of town beats any other side of town all day long. It always feels more claustrophic driving anywhere east of I15.
In terms of marketing and game day experience, they really need to rethink all of it. Don't just keep doing something because you've been doing it. If they can have success and ramp up excitement, I think they can learn a lot from watching how VGK does things. But winning and putting a good product out is even more important.

My rules for Coach Pastner:

I’d buy one of those old rich houses east of UNLV if I were a head coach. Traffic is a mess in the valley.

Recruiting athletes. You got a 1 year window in today’s game. Since UNLV is so obscure these days, you could get your pick of the litter whether it’s at a lower level conference HBCU or an unhappy upper level division 1 school. And If you really think about it, we signed up to stay in a bottom tier conference because traveling East is easier than traveling West.We get what we deserve.

Scheduling: should always be top tier schools that we schedule. Gotta remember, UNLV is the cupcake in 2025

HeyReb got cancelled. Need to go with Star Wars Rebel theme. Most grown adults love Star Wars. Time to make money off Disney.

New assistant/staff speculation

UC SD promoted an Assistant to the HC role.
