He/she is not exactly wrong. You don't have to get into the CFP to make money. If you just look at the current 24/25 football season each G5 school will make about 1.8 million guaranteed from the CFP so adding the current media contract 7 million you get the 8.8 million. Once all those AAC teams leave then we are in a whole new ball game since they may lose their media contract 7 million.

So, just know that the CFP is going to pay us that money just for being a G5 school. Now the money the P4 and Notre Dame get is a whole other thing. I believe I read Notre Dame will get 12 million. And, that is for not even getting to the playoffs. The G5 schools really get crapped on with just 1.8 million

This year, if we get to a CFP semi final game we could get an additional 6 million I believe.

Is it all G5 get cut or that conference?

Legacy schools keep their 7 mil for now, the newest members are getting less, with a promise to even out eventually.
You aren't getting 7 mil again after you lose your 4 best teams/markets. Even less if you get poached again.

Yup...There's a clause ESPN will certainly use if Memphis and Tulane leave to withdraw from the contract. It was specifically added to keep from over paying for bad product. You think the MWC deal was bad, wait till you see the deal an AAC without Houston, UCONN, UCF, Cincy, Tulane, and Memphis gets... we'd be better off staying in a new MWC that adds a few teams and building our programs into super powers...

Super Powers? How exactly? You think next MWC deal will exceed current one?

Sure better than CUSA and possibly AAC but PAC deal will be better and we'll be trying to match them with less money.

Except we don't need the PAC... do you really want to fly to South Florida, then San Antonio in back to backs while taking a payout percentage less than the first 6 teams and paying your own exit fee... no thanks

If the media deal is 3x more than we currently have? Yes.

The reverse of that question is do you want to watch UNLV play Sam Houston State, NMSU, WESTERN KY?

Or the left overs of the AAC?

The new PAC is somehow potentially good enough for Memphis but not UNLV?

I would totally do that 3.5 hour drive for a UTSA game! Lol

I do believe UTSA is seriously considered.
It feels like Memphis is holding out for something. Probably B12. Tulane? Not so sure.

USF? I think that is just too far. Also not a good enough program I think. Decent market though.

Honestly I could see UTSA and UNLV and they shut it down for a bit.

I also think they might be working out some sort of deal with UNLV currently. Some sort of fee assistance program

UNLV actually has a little power as long aa we keep winning. If we drop 3 in a row we lose a good bit of that
UNLV powers is not just from recent winnings.

Did you hear UTSA coach interview when asked about it?

It sure sounded like there have been talks.

If PAC adds anymore from MWC it's likely UNLV.

I wouldn't rule UNM, USU or SJSU out completely either. Reno/Wyo I can't see it.

I hope you're right and no news is good news.

But if UTSA and South Florida jump ship along with Tulane and Memphis (There's smoke with those 2 schools) That would put PAC at 10. Spots start running out quick.
South Florida is in Tampa, Florida. That is a good thing? From Pullman, WA and Corvallis, OR to Tampa, FL? For what? What are their best deal? $10 per? The AAC deal is at $9 millions?

Memphis and Tulane? Yes. I buy that. And that well documented.
UTSA makes since. Not as good competitively, but a good market in TX.
Texas State? That is a stretch. Bad market for a football team that has been FBS for maybe 8 years?
UNT? Meh. Denton is close to Dallas but don't think they count as the DFW market. If so they have poor penetration if they do.
PAC has also said 9 teams.
I don't think it is too far fetched to think Stanford/Cal comes back. There was a good a out of talk about that last week, thouh I javent heard much since. Remember they are traveling across the country to play fo free.
But I do think UNLV is a target. So do A LOT of people. I do think they are on deck a d the finances are a tougher sell. But it also looks like the AAC teams could get expensive.
I also don't think that 2 more MW teams go to the PAC that is definitely too expensive.

For this round of media deals yes.

That contract was written when UH, UCF and Cincy were there. If Tulane, Memphis, and rumors of UTSA and USF leaving are true, there's absolutely no way they get the same deal again.
With the CFP aac teams will get 8.8 to 9 million per school.
