PAC 8?

I've read on this forum and others about "we'll just get the six schools who want to leave to stall the negotiations on a new MWC rights deal and then when the entire thing falls apart, we can leave for next to nothing..." Only problem with that strategy is something called "a conspiracy to defraud" which is what any of the six schools who attempt to sabotage negotiations for a new media rights deal would be accused of. Criminal and civil penalties would result. The tort damages would be immense and would basically stop any sort of behind-the-scenes skullduggery the six have planned. The MWC was constructed in such a way as to make it extremely difficult and expensive for any group of schools to sabotage the conference as a means of supposedly "bettering" themselves. The schools all have good legal counsel and I doubt that some boneheaded idea like "we'll just stall the negotiations for a new media rights deal" will pass an internal smell test from the legal minds advising the presidents and AD's.

OT Movies 2024!!

Life on Mars

If you want to see an amazing TV series/mini series - one season wraps up the entire show. US version 2008-2009 based on the UK show starring Jason O'Mara (The Man in the High Castle), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), Gretchen Mol (Yellowstone), etc..

This show has an amazing twist that you will never guess. Do not look up the ending or it will be ruined. Great 10/10 show!
Watch the U.K. one. It's quite a bit darker but I think it's better.

UNLV Media Day

Ricky White III - It appears that he also took into consideration his chance to play in the NFL and that his chances are better playing as an All American superstar for UNLV than going to a big time program where he could be buried like he was at Michigan State. Great coaching and the ability to make it to the NFL can't be taken lightly .

That’s the key the fact that he has been at MSU, he knows that there is a fine line between WR1 and WR4 at most schools and he’d have to walk into the perfect situation to be able to step in at be the focal piece of an offense over guys just as talent as him who have been in the system for a few years. Probably a bigger risk to leave than to stay.

UNLV Media Day

Very fair questions and analysis. To add to it, would Ricky have stayed if Marion left? Most likely not.

Very glad that Ricky stayed because of xyz. A question that needs to be thought about by all of us is will Ricky duplicate his production or improve it? Second year in the system so theres more familiarity, but will Sluka or Williams be able to deliver the ball to him? A good amount of targets have departed but will Sluka eat up those targets with his running ability or if its Williams, will he be able to deliver some of the good throws that Maiava had? Ricky will get his targets of course, but will Cain and Bradley and Thompson step up so much that the force feeding wont need to occur anymore? Lots of risk both ways in our opinion.
Personally, I expect his production to be flat from last year. But considering how strong of a year he had last year I am sure he will feel there is nothing wrong with that. We just have more options on offense this season.

UNLV Media Day

Don’t get me wrong, I really appreciate the loyalty to our program. I m happy that Unlv will have the top x y and z receiver set in the conference.

I just know that I probably would taken the cash, especially in today’s market. Though I also have a regrettable amount of student debt that I’ll be paying for until I die.

OT Movies 2024!!

dude, I respect old movies but I don’t have the patience to watch it.

Watched Them! 1959 about killer gigantic ants. Not bad but not good either.

Can you guys recommend old good movies that an older gentlemen might like?

what sucks about basic cable is that they literally show the same movies over and over again. And Fox and msn. Just awful stuff to watch.

I haven’t watched any Mob movies believe it or not. Still haven’t watched Godfather 1,2 or 3.

I don’t have a clue what’s on any movies 2024.. planet of the apes??? The original one was great. Ughhh just ranting.

I have officially hit older middle age so movies I am out of the loop.

Goodfellas, Miller's Crossing and Casino are great mob movies imo. How old a movie are you looking for? I like lots of movies made from the late 60s on but not many that were made before that.

UNLV Media Day

Yes. I wouldve grabbed a ton of cash had I been in that same position as well.. But I also think theres something to be said about being a feature of the offense not a part is a huge factor for some of these types of players. Ricky couldve gotten a huge pay day at a P5 school, but does he still feature as the premier WR in the group, is he even still the top WR in his conference? Im glad the staff was able to convince him to return and Im guessing part of that was letting him know that hes going to get a ton of targets, yards, and opportunities to score/show off his skills to get drafted.

It’s a rapidly changing thing, especially with success, but no, not going to be that number. Hopefully someday, because that’ll mean we are making significant noise.

It sounds like Ricky White trust the coaching staff more at UNLV than the money offered by other big time programs. Having an All American who wants to stay at UNLV says a lot about this staff and the future of football
If Horton was getting 600k offers from KSU, I imagine Ricky White was hearing similar or better numbers.. Being a feature rather than a part probably means a lot to both of those WRs.

How good are our quarterbacks for this year?

I think overall you put UNLV as a similar record to last season just like I believe will happen.
Yeah. I think looking at the schedule and all the changes on teams we face in conference, we got a really sweet draw.. especially with Boise and Fresno at home. I just dont see the bottom tier of the MWC being good and we get all of them plus our 2 hardest conference games at home.

Yeah, I have the Kansas game as almost the same tier of Michigan in the "not really winnable" category (not saying they are anywhere as good as Michigan was, just around the same expected result)...

As for the rest, I put them all as toss up in OOC outside Utah Tech. We should win, we should do well in the rest.. but things have an interesting way of surprising or disappointing early in a season..

Where I differ on conference play... Theres no reason why we shouldnt have 1 or fewer losses... We get Boise and Fresno at home. Huge games, Id hope big crowds. We avoid playing AFA and CSU and Wyoming... Then we get the bottom half of the conference.. Hawaii- not really worried, Utah St. they just fired their HC and Im sure there will be a lot of disarray all season. SDSU, SJSU, UNR... I dont see them as being competitive vs us. SJSU lost their HC and their QB, basically what had dragged them into being any form of success over the past few seasons. Oregon St... who knows, they lost their staffs, they lost the talent advantages of P5 affiliation etc.. Im not really calling it a conference game anyways...

I can see us sitting 9-3 heading into the conference title game or better simply by the grace of a lucky draw conference schedule. The bottom tier of the MWC isnt going to be good. They werent good last year and Im not big on any of their hires except UNM getting Mendenhall.
I think overall you put UNLV as a similar record to last season just like I believe will happen.
