Mtn West Rivals boards

Damn you all don't like Rivals much (UNLV the exception). Went to all the (8) sites, only one seemed halfway active but the message board was behind the paywall. The rest, years old. The others must flock to 247 (brand X to us) or SBNation (Brand Y). We have the best Coug message board, although it meanders way off the Football track often.

Our football board is open. Wazzuwatch. If you stop by, ignore all the posts about my private part. I posted one tongue in cheek (but true :) ) comment about my prowess with the ladies months ago, and they won't let it go.

Look forward to conversing as this Pac2 nightmare evolves.

Football on TV

I dont know if this is correct or not? Some said that we have football everyday for 48 straight days from here on out. They said that 2 days ago. Life is exciting!
By the way, Runnin' Rebs ball will be playing Florida State on Nov 20 (Monday) in Daytona, FL. If they win that, Championship is Nov 11 (Tues)...more likely against Colorado. Yeah man, we need the Boone twins there in full strengths.

Been awhile since I've been on here but Just want to say thanks!

I always come on here and read all the posts after Rebel games and during the off seasons and lately it's been good, but for the most part it's mostly negative with a mix of hopes and dreams. The one thing that is the most consistent of all though is that it's mostly the same die hard Rebel fans posting for their school and I can't thank you guys enough. It's so nice (even though I haven't posted in awhile due to laziness in resetting my password) to come on here and see if I'm totally nuts in how I feel/what I see on the field or court, and most of the time someone on here makes me feel better about myself lol.

Long story short I love y'all because I can see you love this school as much as I do, and even if I have no one to talk to at times it's always super refreshing to come on here and see people with the same passion/love for the things I love. Please don't stop posting because I'm definitely reading all of them (except the confid. board, maybe one day).

Let's beat CSU, and hope everyone has an awesome week leading up to the game!

MW top 50?

Interesting to revisit this preseason list half way through the season.

UNLV did not get a lot of love, with Brumfield as our highest ranked player (#24), followed by Brennan Scott #35). Also not a lot of love in the honorable mentions. I didn't check/count but we could have the fewest players on this lists combined in the league.

UNLV vs UNR game thread

Discussion here. The Cannon collar is on the line. Red or BLUE? Everybody and their Momma said that it will remain RED. Reno doesn't believe it. They love it so much that they even created a paper machete of the cannon in Blue collar to display in their office. UNLV should just win this game and get out off Reno injuries free dont let them stay in the game. Stanford came back from a 29 pts deficit to beat Colorado on the road because Colorado let the foot off the gas pedal. Dong make that mistake Rebels!

Very, very OT …

Just wanted to get it off my chest.

I think I’ve mentioned a few times that my son is autistic. He’s now in third grade. We recognized it very early and we started right away with various programs, in home and a ton of hands on from mom and dad.

I feel blessed and wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve always been patient with kids (not idiotic, experienced adults, though) but this experience has taught me a ton more patience and empathy. It’s frustrating at times, we all want the best for our kids.

Part of us being blessed is even though he’s autistic, as many of you know, there’s a wide spectrum with different strengths and weaknesses. One typically common thread is poor socialization skills, difficulty with emotions. He does struggle with emotions at times, worse than typical kids but it’s manageable with some patience. I’ve always felt like you cannot pull a kid from their world to your world, you have to enter their world and hold their hand and guide them through. And that takes keen observation, understanding, a non-judgmental attitude and patience.

His current education team is really good, we meet with them, adjust his learning, the time allotments, etc. And we’ve got him to the point where most of his time is now spent with typical students, he’s pulled for areas of focus for one on one stuff (can read mechanically, but reading comprehension struggles, has trouble with some sounds so there’s some speech therapy, etc). He mixes it up very well socially with all kids, younger, older, teachers and school workers. He’s well liked because he’s happy and social and always smiling and joking. That part is very unusual for autistic kids.

He just had his testing where they measure him against typical third graders and for the most part, it’s what we expected. His struggle areas we were aware of and they’re only slightly below national average right now, which I’m ok with, as long as he progresses, which he is (drives my daughter nuts that we have different standards for the two kids, she better get straight A’s on everything, she’s capable).

But when we got to mathematics and all the subgroups, he only struggled with word problems, which makes sense since reading comprehension is an issue. But for the other subgroups, he was in the 95th-99th percentile among national typical third graders, which I didn’t expect it that high, but I knew it was pretty good. So I was very happy with that.

But tonight - he asks me. “Daddy, when did the USA become a country?” In 1776, Joey. Within 2 seconds, he says to me, no pen and paper … so the USA is 247 years old. I said ….. um …. Did the math in my head …. Yes, that’s right. Did you know that number by heart? “No, Daddy”. Well how did you know? He said because 124 plus 123 is 247.

I was stunned. Absolutely stunned. It’s the same way I do math. But I asked him to explain what he means. He said from 1776 to 1900 is 124 and from 1900 to 2023 is 123 and 124 plus 123 is 247.

I did not expect that. Sometimes they pleasantly surprise you.
