We talked it over as a family and made a difficult decision

We've decided as a family to not do Christmas presents this year but instead we will donate that money to the athletic department for Kevin’s buyout. My 12 year old son made me so proud when he looked me in the eye and said "It's the only way we can make it to Friday of the Mountain West Tournament, Dad". I'm not going to lie, seeing my 6 year old daughter with tears in her eyes made this even tougher for my wife to get on board.

But it will all be worth it if we can get a competent coach.

Last Play

Under 10 seconds. Opponent has the ball inbounds. Needs to go the length of the floor.

1. Prevent a long pass.
2. Steal the inbounds.
3. If the ball is inbounded ( most likely), Need to stop the progress of the dribbler asap. ( goal - force a longer jump shot)

Our entire team just jogged back and made only one minimum effort to stop the progress of the ball. The opponent just dribbled up to 12 feet from the basket and freely dropped it off for the win. Basic misunderstanding of strategy on defense when tied under 10 seconds and opponent inbounds.

I do not know if they are actually

Any good, it could be like us last year with that gaudy OOC record that blinds people about the team’s actual quality ….

But Utah State has a first year coach and they are sitting at 10-1 or something like that. I suspect it’s like us last season but don’t know until I actually see them play a couple of times.

Well, we know Utah State has a decent program. Decent.

And with first year head coach, they’re at least setting themselves up by rolling through their OOC.

Oh, I know, they’ve been a relatively stable program so it makes sense that they’d be in the same ballpark that they’ve been, right?

They have ZERO returning points from last year’s squad. The coach brought in 13 brand spanking new players to the Aggies. It’s probably the largest facelift in the country.

New coach … all new players … given what they’ve had on their plate, they’ve won the games they should …. And more.

Instead of UNLV using “hey, why not us?” which is a sad, desperate plea anyway … UNLV uses “why does this keep happening to us?”

I’m probably not as

Upset as many of you. I know, I know, we lost, line up the firing squad for KK. When we beat Hofbrauhaus next week, we should offer an extension.

Ugly, ugly, horrific game between two terrible offensive performances. As ugly as it gets. Look at what St Mary’s was held to, no way UNLV should ever lose. Look at what SMU held UNLV to, no way they should ever lose that game.

The loss is “bad” perception wise. We are below 500. An ugly loss. But perception isn’t reality and I don’t care what other people think.

Once we lost to Northern by double digits at home, the writing was already on the wall. Dropped those two uglies in Florida, it became cemented. Goal 1, earning an at large is completely gone. So what’s that leave you with? Winning the MWC outright, which is a pipe dream but still in play. That will be blown up first half of conference play, most likely. So let’s not look at a pipe dream, let’s look at what’s realistically possible. Getting a top 5 finish in conference so you skip the opening round of the MWCT. Rather play 3 than 4. Is that still a pipe dream? No. It’s real.

is winning the MWC a pipe dream? Not quite, a longshot, but it’s the best we got at this point and it’s more of a reality than going 16-2 in conference.

Losing sucks. I don’t like any of it. But if you were holding for some insane fantasy … don’t know what to tell you … this was written in November … the games after Florida “don’t matter” … win or lose, the resume was completely SHATTERED after the Florida trip.

Beat SMU today, doesn’t matter. Lose to Creighton the other night, doesn’t matter.

So the goal is and HAS BEEN three games at the Mack in March instead of 4. And it’s been that way since Turkey Day.

What DOES matter is improving and that isn’t always determined by wins and losses. You have to improve to get to the top 5 and have that long shot. The record in December doesn’t matter, it’s whether you keep improving and gain consistency.

Yeah, perhaps it’s a defeatist attitude, but I’m trying to look at the bigger picture, perhaps grasping at straws. One of the only things I am pretty sure of is that half the teams in the conference, including us, can “fluke”, or long shot themselves to a conference tournament championship. We’ve seen it happen several times before. That’s all we got imo, so let’s make it three instead of four days.

December Signing Day

The recruits that I've been told are for sure signing with us:

1. Damien McDaniel
2. Devin Green
3. Max Mogelson
4. Kahekili Pa'ao'ao
5. Greg Burrell
6. Hank Purvis
7. Jae Beasley
8. Tre Fulton
I'm not sure about Kela Moore. He's been flirting with the idea of staying home since the commitment. Its a matter of if they have space.

Haven't heard anything from Charles Correa, but I believe he is locked in.

Kayden McGee: Up in the air right now

Pretty confident about Nijrell Eason

Toby Moore said he was signing and tagged some coaches. Hearing theres some smoke with other schools though. Im leaning towards him signing.

Jaylen Allen should be signing with us. I'm 90 percent sure.

Dylan Drummond and Amare should also sign, but havent confirmed.

Fill in the blanks for me. I know I've missed some.
