It seems like though seventeen markets, adding teams like UTSA and UNT may dilute the bottom line a bit too much, also leaves less room for further expansionDepends on what the tv honchos want. They are the ones driving this bus. Oregon State and Wazzu were never going to merge with the MWC and its mediocre tv contract.
UNT is in Denton, closer to Dallas than Ft Worth. But both are considered the same market.UNT makes even less sense than not adding UNLV other than the fact it’s in Texas. TCU pretty much owns the Ft. Worth area
I’ll eat crow too … and we’d probably be a FSU victory away from a number by our name.

Them guys are out of a job after the Chris Turd fiasco.Good point. The Regents wouldn't be able to shut this down, would they?
Snapdragon is not a second rate stadium. It's brand new, hold 35k(not bad) pretty close to Houston's. Playing in the old chargers stadium was second rate.SDSU moved to a second rate football stadium and it has shown in how quickly the football program has dropped off. SDSU couldn't even use the leverage of second place in the NCAA tournament to move on. I am not worried about UNLV which is in a very good position and will not be left behind unless they want to be left out.
I don't know. I was still hearing that OSU/WSU had a good chance of joining up with the Big 12 at the next phase of conference moves, but I guess they either didn't like that concept, or decided that they wanted to stay as a western region conference only. Why did the PAC2 sign that deal if they had plans to do this? Its going to cost them a lot of money.
Because they couldnt get the $$ deal they demanded from the MWC. Its why they backed out of the agreement in the first place. They wanted a similar type deal that Boise got although probably much higher revenue payouts for their brand and the MWC said no and held to it... So they poached the minimum to avoid being sued completely, offered to up the payout in hopes that by the time the dust settles, the 8 teams left have destroyed themselves and there is no conference left to pay the money to. If the 8 hold together and then add the best programs left around the West/Midwest, the PacState is sunk...Why did the PAC2 sign that deal if they had plans to do this? This is definitely part of it. They technically dont have a conference to compete in. I also think now that theyve created a power struggle for the last 2 spots, they wont need to pay for the fees to leave, itll be on the program leaving to do so. Leverage to not be left on a sinking ship, but if youre the remaining 8, you hold strong and grab best available teams around to keep brand strong and choke off the Pac 6 till theyre forced to add Sac State and Portland St.One thing that I had seen a bit of discussion on, but no confirmation, is that the Pac 2 didn't want to poach the MWC down below 8 members, for fear of legal action. Bumping the MWC below 8 would basically make them not meet the 8 school requirement to be considered a conference. So it's possible that this could be a phased deal as well. Maybe Gloria goes out and grabs commitments from a couple more schools, which then frees up the PAC to come in and poach a couple more as well?
Who knows? I'm just shooting from the hip here, but it's at least possible. Or, it's possible that with so much of the MWC leaving, the TV partners throw a fit and opt out of the TV contracts, which may result in the MWC blowing up altogether.
Just speculating out loud here, I have no idea 😂
IMHO The Pac-2 is foolish if it doesn't offer UNLV. Such a no-brainer, so something went on to have that not happen. I see it turning around very soon now that the other shoes have dropped. At this point, if it were me I'd take UNLV and UNR, basically get the whole state despite Reno's relative lameness. SJSU is geographically and market-wise worth considering, but they are so meh. Maybe Wyoming. Yeah it is a small market, but it is the entire state.
Still in shock over the whole thing. Not how I would have played it. Also, I have seen it mentioned here and on the WCS board that the Pac-2 will pay the exit fees for your new traitors? Dunno where that comes from. I could see us chipping in, but beyond that.......?
