House Settlement Approved

Probably want it split evenly regardless of sport
I don't think that Title IX enforces equal funding, but it does enforce equal opportunity. Usually this is scholarships, but when the school is revenue sharing I'm pretty sure they have solid legal ground to stand on here. I'm not exactly what that means in dollars and cents, but I'd say they have a legitimate grievance looking for a slightly larger slice of the pie than 4%. I'd probably sue if I were them, too.

Even if the $EC and B1G split off from the NCAA like the rumors are stating is going to happen in the next 5 years, they'll still be subject to Title IX if they want federal money.

Erick Harper on Revenue Sharing

I don't know the ins and outs of title IX, but as long as the scholarships are equal, I would think that is good.

I think it is hard to justify fairness for "profit sharing" of revenue, when certain sports do not create revenue, or at least not much.

Fair is fair. The scholastic stuff being equal, we are talking about turning these athletes into professionals essentially. You are worth your worth.

As for leaving it up to the schools, I am perfectly OK with that. I am more against Title 9 forcing schools to share revenue amongst all the sports. I think they are separate issues (scholarships and revenue sharing). If schools want to share, that is fine if that is what they want to do.
I know texas tech paying pitcher 2 mil to return next yr in softball.

House Settlement Approved

Apparently a class action lawsuit by multiple female athletes is being filed challenging this ruling.

It was just a matter of time- faster than I thought.

I am OK with Bilicheck being a bit down on the list. I don't think he has ever coached at the College level in his life. Granted it is essentially pro sports now, so there is that. But that level of development? I don't know.

He also did not perform well his last few years in New England, as a coach and essentially the general manager.

He is the GOAT in terms of NFL coaches. No denying that. I just don't think it means it will necessarily translate to college ball.
I’m a Broncos fan and hated the Pats!

Say what you want about Brady and Bill personally, they aren’t high on the hang out list but as coach and qb you have to give it up to them, they are winners.

Bill didn’t do to much after Tom left but he still calls the defense well in games!

Many coaches have said they'd rather their fan base be angry than apathetic when things aren't going well, because at least you know they still care. But this quote shows that he 'gets it:'

"What I'm learning, if you win here, they love you. You are it. If you lose, they just don't really care, because there's a bunch of other things for them to go do."

Unfortunately, that can add to the longevity of an under-performing coach, CKK Exhibit A

How do you think Bill Belichick feels being ranked third on that list?
I know that it's for the college ranks but the guy won multiple NFL Championships. Not College championships, NFL. "But Bronco led BYU to (insert innocuous bowl game here)."

I have family who are WVU grads so I can't argue that one. 🤣

I'd have Mullen higher on that list and move Bronco down.
I think its ranking "best hire" its not necessarily "best hire".. like for example, Bronco to USU is a really good hire, doesnt mean he will finish top 2 record wise... For a program like UNLV coming off the season that we had only get Mullen at 5... He probably ends up with the best record of the bunch...

Erick Harper on Revenue Sharing

I don't think that's the case though. 10 years ago, UNLV would be getting way more revenue in basketball than in football, but that's totally flipped at the moment. It seems best to leave it to the discretion of each school.

Also, since title IX exists, it sort of forces the most profitable sports to pay for the other sports, so at most schools, it's likely that there isn't really much of a net 'profit'. I'm wondering where this money is going to come from. Will they dip into endowments? Get boosters to pony up more? Only pay out when it's profitable?

Rankings of 1st year hires in 2025.
Barry Odom and Dan Mullen, side-by-side together at the 4 and 5 spot.
Bronco Mendenhall is a good head coach but at number 2. I, just don't see it.

If Odom wins more than 5 games, I'll be shocked. Maybe they get to 6 and make the Pop Tart Bowl to take on like Middle Tennessee St.
