Pac media deal

I asked this on the WCS board. What 26-28 CFP money? The Pac-2 is getting a pity handout for FY 25 and 26 ($3-4M I believe) but I know of nothing beyond that other than the pittance G5 conferences get now.

And to rebel's post on the Pac-12 network. That went of the air a year ago, so yeah it is dead. The Pac-12 Enterprises (production, etc. is left. I don't believe there is any thought about restarting the network itself.
I believe its the percentage each conference gets from the CFP committee.. not the participation $, but the payout- so APR and then also the 300k each school gets individually... for context- the G5s last year got 103 million aggregate- AAC, CUSA, MWC, Sunbelt, MAC... thats a pretty decent chunk of change- approx.. 20 million each per conference, so that's could be an extra 5-10 million per season for OSU/WSU.

Just wanted to say hey

Hey brothers!

Just wanted to introduce myself and say it’s been long overdue that I came on here. I was on the mountain west board a million years ago and when I went to go check, it was dead as disco…. All these changes to the landscape have made me want to come see what my other alumni brothers and sisters are thinking. I bet we are sick of the same things….ha. Anyway, cheers and I’ll see you around!

Every single school in the Ivy league are also loaded with money, but they would do nothing but drag down the athletics of a conference, which is why Rice was never able to get into a decent conference after the SWC dissolved in the 90's. The only way that they would have any value is if they needed an 8th team and they came in with a zero percent of the media contract.

Pretty much what I just said...😀

PAC press release essentially saying they have been given a contract based on 8 full football members.

Whoever number 8 or 9 is, it will not impact the deal.

So Rice wouldn't hurt the deal at all.

PAC has been told here is X amount of dollars for your product. Divide how you see fit, but we aren't adding anymore to it regardless of the addition.

So basically here's 80 million (or whatever) Add whoever you like.

There are no viable additions that will increase it so here's what we are willing to pay.

Smallish school. But they are absolutely loaded...

They may be the addition they may not. Who knows.

Seems odd a school that really doesn't prioritize athletics would spend 20+ million in exit fees to switch conferences to 'improve' athletics.

Why not just upgrade facilities? Or make bigger coaching hires.

I have to wonder if the Pac network is dead now with CBSSN deal. Also yes, the bridge loan idea for exit fees seems like a good way to not get any media revenue for a few years as well as no CFP payouts.. Im not sure how these schools are going to be able to afford those hits and try and implement the house settlement.
Not necessarily. The Pac could use their own network to cover non revenue sports. CBS is only taking football and mens basketball

Due to the fact that we haven't heard anything on the whole PAC/MW settlement, is it at all possible that the negotiations are going poorly for the MW, and one of the remaining MW schools is considering the jump? Even UNLV?
I'd assume there is a a non disclosure for the settlement progress and that not a valid peep comes out until after settlement is reached. Anything happening in there is not gonna be leaked and if it is, there would be actual penalties i assume.

Personally, seems like it would be unlikely for a school to be able to jump as part of settlement. UNLV leaving would open up a great deal of money for the other schools, but then you lose the most visible school in your league.

Say the departing MWC5 do take out bridge loans from the PAC as reported by San Diego Tribune. (Compensation for MWC withholding 2 years of revenue)

Loans typically have interest.

MWC5 would be filling the coffers of OSU/WSU with interest paid, not the actual PAC or PAC enterprises or network.

If I read correctly, they also arent able to expand their partners? CBSSN gets rights to football and basketball with a few games on CBS...

If they add those two programs, I can see them pushing down towards $6 million per year. Rich has a losing record almost every year, they average around 18K fans per season this last year, and they have a total of about 8,500 students.

Ninth full member possibility if TX State is 8th.

Rice...They have the money. Would give TX State a travel partner.

I do not believe the MWC would even consider Rice at a half share.

There are a lot of posters here with deep dives of info and it’s clear all of you have had good points to share on this PAC 2 media deal but my question is, when will we (MWC) know about the exit fees owed to us and get an idea of how much that will be for UNLV financially?
When mediation is done.. I expect alot of this to begin to wrap up as they announce media deal, 8th member and try and move on into their new G6 conference..

I believe they would have additional partners. But CBS is going to be the main one, so they get to cherry pick the best games. It would make sense to me if they had a deal with fox for supplemental basketball or another streaming service like trutv.

As a former Paramount Global/ CBS employee, let me make this statement: Womp. womp.

This is not the transformational deal Gould was talking about. Also, CBS just laid off another 3.5% of the company a couple of weeks ago. I believe that's wave 6 of layoffs since last year?

Harlan Nellum..

At 61 we have the second highest rated G6 class behind Boise. Also ranked ahead of Auburn, WSU, NC St, Utah, AZ, OR St, Nebraska, Virginia, WF, Missouri, VA Tech…so not bad for a first class!
Not bad for us, just a little more than two and a half years ago, we were in obscurity with recruiting, now not so much.

I believe if we take advantage of this year’s schedule, recruiting can get better next year and going forward based on Mullen being here and the wins piling up as a result!

I lately have started rolling with the on3 industry average which has us at 65 but that is still better than everyone on your list but Auburn (only 6 commits but 3 4 star guys, so a high average) but have us behind App State, Tulane, Miami (OH), and Memphis for 6th in the G6. That's without Prin Fox who probably moves us right to the same place as the rivals ranking haha. Either way, that seems pretty dang good to me.

And Boise is just a LITTLE bit ahead. 1 more top 1200 guy, and 2 more top 1600 guys as the rankings are out now. And we had a LOT better 2025 transfer class (though we also lost a lot more than they did with the coaching change).

Pac media deal

There's a bunch of rumors on X right now talking about this being the week that the PAC will reveal all of their cards. Sounds like Texas State will be the 8th member, but there's rumors of a 9th full member also.

No. UNLV isnt going anywhere and none of the other MWC teams were wanted by the Pac 12. The lack of resolution on mediation means its likely more favorable for the MWC.
