Along with the new running back for UNLV who is considered big time!
From his past history, he is a quarterback whisperer!I’m sure there will be at least one more.
As for this kids stats? Not overly impressive. But don’t know the circumstances. But Sluka and Hajj had better numbers and they were pretty mediocre.
Mullen has done well with quarterbacks. Sure, I’d love to have a transfer sophomore that led his team to the top 25, he can run and throw with the best of them … but until Mullen proves he’s lost his knack, I don’t know what position we can take other than to trust in his judgment and abilities. He’s not a coordinator with no HC experience, he’s been through the battles.
So the MWC is equal to the ACC in level of competition, keep dreaming! You're right their #3 team barely beat our #2 team. Their #2 team struggled to beat or 10th team.
Not even close!!! Except for the examples of it being extremely close!!!!
Since Mullen has already worked with him, he knows what he can do, so this is a good pick up, except for the fact he is coming from such a bad lower level program! 🤣
I get the concern and seeing him ranked below Sluka doesn’t exactly generate excitement. Is this who Mullen really wanted or was it just the best he could get at this time? It seems like the latter which is why the concern but have to let it play out maybe he sees something he thinks he can correct? Maybe he loves Ochoa and this is backup? Or maybe this and the SC guy is the best they could get. Guess we will see.Exactly.
Would we be any happier if it was a highly ranked former recruit with zero snaps that's been riding the pine for a year or two?
A lot goes into a players success and failures that are out of their control.
I'll trust the evaluation of a guy that knows QBs.
Even though the numbers aren't eye popping.
Said it before, even with increased NIL commitments UNLV still has to play 'moneyball' when targeting players. There's more money, but not P4 money to throw around.
You're right their #3 team barely beat our #2 team. Their #2 team struggled to beat or 10th team.Disagree completely!
ACC is better hands down, it’s not even close!
PSU has a good defense I definitely think it is better than Oregon but that said I think Jeanty has a good game.It was the first game of the year. But Oregon couldn’t stop Jeanty who rushed for 192 yards and 3 TD’s in a 37-34 narrow win for the Ducks. I don’t think PS defense is any better than UO. At best PS will attempt to contain Jeanty. But they won’t stop him. He is that good IMO.
Disagree completely!Personally I don't know if they ACC vs MW competition is going to be that stark.
ACC vs FCS? Huge difference.
We aren't going to get a finished product/plug and play QB. But Mullen has scouted countless QBs in the past. I would imagine he has a really grasp on what traits he is looking for. Where he can hide mistakes and maximize strengths based off of his system.
Look at his last 6 games. That line up is absolutely brutal. He took 2 less sacks than UNLV QBs did while playing 2 less games. He was a starter for a reason, hopefully Mullen can work his magic.Personally I don't know if they ACC vs MW competition is going to be that stark.

I think the base deal, before the playoff sharing money at least double. Probably more.I definitely think they get more. The question is how much.
Against P4 competition, not against MWC competition? The step down alone combined with being “hand” picked by Mullen means there is a little room for some optimism!
Actually they turned down a 30 mil deal from ESPN after the LA schools left.
So how low were OSU and WAZZU's value to drop the overall value of that deal.
Well the big 10 and big 12 thought those schools were worth about 30 mil a piece. Neither conference thought that the remaining 2 schools were but there is no way they are worth less than 10 each on average. The math doesn't make sense if they were.
Now those schools are obviously worth less now tham with the others but I think many are really undervaluing their media worth.
Follow the money. The Pac 2 said no to merger for a reason and it wasn't just pride. They broke off because they knew they would make more even with potentially high up front costs.
Obviously things did not go as planned, but there is no way they are worth anything near what the new MW will be. We have some really poor markets and I think that will hurt us down the road.
I’m sure there will be at least one more.

Actually they turned down a 30 mil deal from ESPN after the LA schools left.Apple TV offered the remaining PAC schools after USC/UCLA left 23 million per school.
That's Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Cal, ASU, UofA, Colorado, Utah, Washington State and Oregon State.
You're replacing those first 8 schools with Boise, SDSU, Fresno, USU, CSU and Gonzaga.
Not sure if that helps with speculation/forming an opinion on future PAC media deal or not.
If he's being brought in as a backup watch out for the QB1, lol.. that's all I can think when I see comments about being a backup...
