Washington State loses HC

Wait why would Dickert leave? It's a lateral move from one P4 conference to another? 😁
Damn. That UTEP comparison was something I thought earlier.Your points are good.
This just goes to my earlier belief and assertion that Oregon State and Washington State are MWC-caliber without the P5 label.
They will become the Wyoming (with a little easier travel) and UTEP of their new conference.
19k would be 2600 more than what we averaged just 5 years ago. I get it, different era. But we aren't that far away from that number.I believe that, just 19K attendance is pretty weak.

I hope they do too. All of them did get significant time in even if they were stuck behind veterans. That might be enough.Really hope that Vessel, Kela, and DeCambra stay. All looked good in camp and practice, but were just stuck behind veterans.
With a quarter billion in debt, and rising; that program is in an almost impossible hole to climb out of. Pullman has fewer people than Pahrump. They're like everyone else in the G5, just trying to hold it together until they get a P4 invite. Take a ticket and get behind us.Your points are good.

From my perspective, It's hard to tell whether he left the team early either because he was mad that he didn't get the HC job here or the Sacramento State came up at the same time and he had to devote time for that. To me it makes a difference on how you leave your last job.Marion is a good OC with a proven offense. Sure it wasn't perfect, but it was good more than it was bad. He was a finalist for corrdinator of the year.
Not sure his interest or his interpersonal relationships. Him being a hard ass on the sidelines doesn't mean much to me. Has anyone here ever played football, lol. Some coaches are firey.
I get the vibe that he isn't making a ton of friends. Not sure if that is true or not. WIth all of his experience at different places, you'd think that he could be networking quite well and building up a rolodex. But if he not good at making friends, then maybe not.
Now the whole Sluka thing was a red flag and could have been a big mistake on Marion's side.
We all knew that Marion was gone, even before Odom left. I think leaving before the bowl game for a HC job isn't so bad. It is basically the standard. If it were for a coordinator job that is a little more punk ass.
And, they have a bowl game in 9 days. The Holiday Bowl will be no holiday for them. No HC, no OC, no DC, Mateer gone. A disaster.WSU has been gutted the last 2 weeks. It's going to be tough sledding for them. They need a new coach right away to hope to retain what they have left. They've already lost their star QB.
Oh it's well past time for that. The football program has shown both the ability to attract and pay high profile coaches to get to respectability, I think it is about time for the basketball program to begin to do the same. Quit with first time coaches and let's get someone in here who will spark some interest in the program. It's time to revive this program. It's been almost 35 years....enough is enough!!!
Catalon doesn't have eligibility leftHe and Catalon
Did you see the follow up post? I get that there is zero chance…just odd both are going to end up lower than they wanted. Last year Marion was almost HC at UTEP and now he is going to Sac state. Sluka thought he would get P4 looks and now is at best mid-tier MAC if he wants to play and will not get paid anywhere near what he thought he could extort from UNLV.I would think zero if he is the one who told Sluka he had $100K coming his way.
Sure take time to interview and leave when you get the job, but he bailed long before the interview and accepting the job. That is the difference. If he gets a head coach job, is he any different than Odom?
I agree it doesn't now though I think change is coming with that after this season. All it takes is Alabama to miss the CFP over SMU who played no one and change will come in like the wind. Are you guys sure about sos meaning that much? The last few years (not this year), Liberty played and beat NO ONE of significance yet were highly ranked and would have made the 12-team playoffs. I don't think SOS plays as big a part as some might think. I don't recall if it was here at Rebel net or elsewhere, but someone put up a spreadsheet of the rankings and it's various criteria, and they appeared a lot more biased toward SOR (strength of record) and showed that SOS had little influence in those rankings.
I believe that, just 19K attendance is pretty weak.Indoor stadium with 19,000 was a great football environment when fans were not bored. Espn game day even went to Fargo twice around 10 years ago.

I would think zero if he is the one who told Sluka he had $100K coming his way.I get leaving for HC job or missing practice for an interview but what kind of OC just leaves the team? That’s crap, what are the odds Sluka transfers to Sac State for a bag of peanuts.
