Why?!

I highly doubt it!

If our defense, who is playing lights out allows 400 yards passing, we aren’t as good as we thought. I don’t believe that!

The D is much different than past years and if they get the pass rush ramped up more by blitzing and stunting, we could and should see a record number of sacks!

We gave up 300 yards passing to Fresno. But it didn't feel like it because they weren't explosive plays and turnovers and sacks killed a few of their early drives.

The yardage totals don't matter. It's what you do with those yards.

McCord is a good QB. Syracuse can sling it. They aren't particularly good on the ground because they don't have to be and it's not what they are built to do.

I think UNLV is going to win the game but they'll give up some yards through the air. But as long as they aran't giving up huge scoring plays through the air and buckledown in red zone they will be fine.

Syracuse OL looks a little shaky.

I know how much you love stats. UNLV is currently 88th in passing defense yards allowed.

Allegiant

Game Day would be terrible here, where would they set up? In front of Allegiant with 50 fans there?
If game day ever showed up here, hopefully the students would show up in much better numbers that they do.

As far as Allegiant goes in general. I do think it works. Allows flexibility on start times. Don’t always have to schedule night games due to the heat. I think crowd will get better as we keep winning. Most casual fans are just beginning to see that this team is pretty good.

So you're telling me there's a chance

That would be epic and I like our chances with our defense plus Odom seemingly loves a second chance at a team after previously losing to them. He and the staff will have team dialed in more than they were against Fresno.
Boise has 2 easy games coming up, then a bye week before unlv.

Our schedule is much tougher. Syracuse this week, followed by an easier game vs Utah State, then at Oregon St.

So most likely BSU will win those 2. Hopefully unlv can got 3-0. Not sure if 2-1 would keep us ranked but thinking probably not

So you're telling me there's a chance

If unlv and Boise can manage to win their next couple, it would be awesome to host Boise as both top 20 teams.

NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

NEW CONFERENCE SCENARIO 3.0 or 4.0 can't keep up.

This is a PAC gets Texas State or Texas State stays put hoping for AAC invite.

UNLV
SJSU
RENO
AFA
UNM
HAWAII (FB ONLY)
WYOMING

MWC ADDS

UTEP
NMSU
WESTERN KY
LA TECH

None of those are overly exciting but WKU over last 5 years has 3 9 win seasons an 8 win season and a 5 win season. LA TECH helps as a travel partner for them.

Problem is 11 is a wonky conference number seems like 12 would be better. But without dipping into FCS I'm not sure who you else you grab. Not to mention you just gutted CUSA and basically did same thing PAC is doing to us more or less.

I don't think 8 or 9 is viable.

No way Gloria could feel comfortable at that number with UNLV having an out (unlikely as it might be)

Allegiant

We have been winning and since late last year we have been saying "next game we will get 30k". Hell we are ranked for the first time, played another playoff contender, we were the center of the sports world news and beyond this week and still 25k.
It sucks. At least it seems that the majority of the paid attendance seemingly showed for this game.
I Think the match up against Boise will draw. Hell it may be a college game day visit of both teams do not drop one before then which will definitely make the game "cool".
Friday's game should be better even because the word is Syracuse are bringing a bunch of fans

NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

I was always a proponent of an on-campus stadium for the reasons articulated but mostly to get alumni back on campus which helps with fundraising and engagement with all other academic and athletic units at the University. Having now experienced the comfort and convenience of an indoor stadium I’m not sure an open-air on-campus stadium would meet the needs of a fickle fan base (which I guess I resemble). It would have to be enclosed which means a lot more expensive. The airport raised all types of issues with an on-campus open-air stadium due to lighting concerns with approaching aircraft on the north-south runway so an enclosed stadium would solve that. Still, lots of other challenges in that regard not the least of which is that UNLV is running out of land and will soon need to begin developing the 2000 acres it’s has in NLV. Using the remaining limited space for a stadium will be a tough sell when we have a $2B indoor stadium at our disposal. First world problems for UNLV in this regard. For now it would be great (when $$ is available) to tarp and brand the top tier of Allegiant for UNLV games since it is unlikely we will fill it even if we become an annually ranked team.

Say we get 40k eventually, you'll have to open up the top, you could open end zone seating up top for super cheap tix prices and do like you said tarp off the rest with UNLV branding.

AP Poll

Different times. Probably would've helped but until we took a torch to the basketball program by firing Rice, it was paying off for basketball. We should've tried to invest in football at that same time to elevate both. Simpler times but had we'd known the Big 12 was going to raid the Pac 12 we mightve invested money into football so we could've been in that conversation... it just shows hiring a experienced HC to run a program makes a huge difference

No totally. I agree.

Different times.

Not to be too Harsh, but we shouldn't go crazy with Lindy.
Again it all about the end goal. Women's Bball doesn't create much revenue. If they have been running in the black, then Lindy should get every last bit of revenue that the sport creates.
But beyond that, give to Barry.
We can make good on the others once we are pulling in 30 mil a year guaranteed
Not saying go crazy, but 500k extra a year probably keeps her around and keeps that program running at top of conference. Agree with just pouring money into football though. It's something we should've been doing for years.

AP Poll

Revisionist history here, but I wonder if there had been a way at the time a way to divert Mendenhall Center money to a football facility instead, if it would have changed things at all.

I concur with this approach. Offer an extra 2-3 million a year with a 20 million dollar buyout, pay Lindy to lock her up, and let basketball ride...
