Ban the PAC12 from Vegas! I don’t think you can but here’s a LVRJ article. I doubt Vegas interest in this new version of the PAC will be anything like the old PAC12. They need UNLV if they want to own this market.

I won't like it if the LVCVA gives them $500,000 for hosting their basketball tournament in Las Vegas if we are not part of that realignment. Why give money earned for our residents via room taxes to a group that doesn't want us. That shyt has to stop.

It is possible that this was always going to be the plan. Then poaching agreement when we did the other scheduling agreement is the weird part of it. Maybe PAC knew they had to take the hit so they just agreed to it. They were pretty desperate when everyone left.
But it did seem like a merger was going to happen and that poaching fee seem to help that out.

I never, ever said he sucked, not while he was here, not after he left. He’s a good college quarterback. Very solid. Has some limitations, does some things pretty well, other things very well.

But I don’t see him in the NFL. Enough so that I am willing to lay down money on it.

Maybe you’re right, maybe it is too early to tell. But it’s too early to tell whether Jacob Bannarbie will play in the NBA. I’ll bet you he won’t. Too early to tell is a great hedger though, it’s along the lines of “slow growth is the way forward”.

Because according to you people never improve, never learn from their mistakes. We are all exactly what we will be at 17 and 18. No coach, team, player ever gets better. Of course for overwhelming evidence that it does all of the time. But that takes patience and us Rebel fans need instant gratification because we are too good to wait and earn it. Like everyone else.
I agree he lacks wowing measurables. But thing is QB is the one position where that doesn't matter, with the exception of needing to make certain throws.
Maiava can make all of throws. There are plenty of cases where QBs make it to the NFL with strong upperclassmen seasons. Playing as back ups. In fact there may be more cases of that in recent memory over multi year starters.
I am not saying he is a sure fire NFL player. I just think it is too early to say as a sopthroes.
Time will tell. Sure they have a stud QB prospect coming in, but they let that same level of player go to bring in Maiava this past off-season. He should be more worried about a transfer TBH.
Barnarbie? Come on Joe. Can you ever make a point without a ridiculous comparison? Maiava was a solid 3-4 star recruit (was out highest ever recruit at the time) who had P5 interest. Then was in a bidding war between 2 of the biggest programs in college football. JB was a complete unknown.

Year 2 with Scherer has been very good. I do think our offense will be more effective. And we know that Marion is the sole architect of the offense.
Odom gives Scherer all the credit, but Odom is the type of guy that would give his assistants credit oven if he has a major role. So hard to say.
But I think Scherer should be seriously considered if it comes to that. But I can also see Odom bringing Scherer with him and potentially paying him more than we would offer as a HC.

That could be the case, but it makes no sense. Whatsoever.
First, the MW 4 wouldn't have left to create a conference with no financial benefits and also pay for the privilege.
Second, that is exactly the same money as the current MW. Taking 4 of the best markets plus the PAC 2 without the dead weight of the MW. There is no possible way that it wouldn't be higher. The math does not make sense.
More reports say 10-12. Who knows what it will be and to be honest it really depends on how they round out the rest of the conference.

shes a dunce. But we tend to think those at the top are geniuses, above criticism, they MUST know what they’re doing, they MUST be good - otherwise why would they be hired? Coaches, ADs, presidents, etc.

Once merit as a hiring tool was cast aside … you invite incompetence to prevail. Not every case, but before positions were always earned.

That makes all of our Presidents dumb as well since they all signed off on the Scheduling Agreement.

Sad thing is all they had to do was join the MWC - Call it the PAC 14 - and it would have been the top G5 conference. Win it and you get a CFP spot nearly every year. Get 4-5 spots in the dance every year. But NO..................!! They were just too good for that.

I forget what talking head it was on TV discussing this, but gist of it was he doesn't want to hear that the MWC commish was caught off guard by this move. He said when you basically hand them the blue print of what it would cost to poach you shouldn't be surprised when it happens.

What I'm still not clear on is how Hawaii's football only status is factored into this?

If that's the case wouldn't that put MWC technically below the 8 required for conference affiliation already?

Basically rehashing an earlier post. McMurphy is usually solid on info.

One thing to consider with any of these reports is the possibility that schools both actual targets of the PAC and some that aren't might be leaking false info out for leverage.

Take Memphis for example. Saw a couple things pop up today linking ACC interest to both Memphis and USF. Was this Memphis and USF leaking stories to try and sweeten deal with new PAC? Maybe even add more pressure on AAC commish?

This story has USU and UNLV linked as next targets of PAC. Are they? Possibly. Is this USU and UNLV trying to put some pressure on MWC commish to give them a bigger cut of MWC deal if they stay put?

I'm in the camp of previous HC experience. But a lot depends on who's available should this occur.

I wouldn't limit my search to just former HCs though.

Harper and Odom have a good relationship. Odom comes across as a stand up guy.

I think Odom would give him an honest answer. And I think Harper would be wise to take whoever he said into serious consideration.
