We have a really good chance for a balanced scoring team that will be a nightmare to defend.

If that is true.. throw away the whole damn system… cause if 2 million is the going rate for an Osobor type player… then in 2 years.. what will be the going rate for someone similar to Osobor.. 4-5 million?!?

I talked to two transfers who we recruited. They both said that the staff didn't apply enough pressure. These are not scrubs either, it's 2 guys who had interest in coming to Vegas and are better than the folks we got.

Glad to see the staff trying their best and going after guys like they really want them!

Transferring to UNLV

Utah State transfer Great Osobor, the top available player in the NCAA transfer portal, has committed to Washington.
Osobor, the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, has name, image and likeness agreements in place that will give him the highest-known valuation in college basketball this season, at $2 million.

If these numbers are accurate its no wonder why we're unable to land program changing players. Luckily we were able to retain Dedan but if other top players are expecting multi-million dollar payouts UNLV Basketball is not going back to the upper echelon of college basketball. These numbers seem insane but I guess this is the new landscape, makes me wonder what a top 50/100 type portal player is getting.

While I didn’t sit in on this conversation, I believe the numbers that are thrown out.

I like it.

Revenue sharing up to 22% to players , so Conferences that get 50 million plus per school vs us with what 8 mil? The 50 million (22% of it) most of that could be directed towards players , but with 8 million most of that will be eaten up by cost of running program. IMO some schools will just shut down. The players repensentation don't want any cap or restrictions . Yes I believe in Capitalism, but at what cost? They have to come to some guidelines or agreements to balance things out. 4 the safety of CBB. Separate Div 1 ? With the haves and have nots? This is on top of outside endorsements. Some kids will be millionaires ! Maybe some whole teams in 1-2 years. Multi millionaires. I don't know legally what they could do? Like maybe have 6 years of eligibility and STOP making kids take such heavy class loads? Yes it's weak sauce, but most of those degrees are worthless. But that would help dilute and spread out the talent more. Good start to the season, two dominating games. Home opener win vs Seattle, road win over the Sharks. Each goalie with a 4-1 win (Sharks game not quite over, late 3rd). I think the VGK had 3 goals over a 4 minute span from the end of the 2nd period to the beginning of the 3rd tonight.

What’s probably been most impressive is that 8 different players have scored the 8 goals.

She knew my sister Tina. We went to lady Rebel basketball game with her son who witnessed the whole thing. She went to LVHS.
