Jeanty

Man, if he doesn't pass the eye test for you who in college football does right now? I think his biggest problems are he lacks height and I haven't seen him do a lot of pass protection, but as far on film he's got elite 10 yard burst, elite balance especially off of contact, elite vision especially on back cuts, excellent start and stop acceleration/deceleration, above average hands out of the backfield, above average long speed, and above average lateral speed. Of course, if he has a bad combine that could hurt his draft stock but I can't find a reliable draft prospectus that has him outside the top 3 RBs.

I don't think height matters to much for RBs.

He's 5'9 but 215-220. Can he pass block? Hasn't been asked to do it but he's built sturdy I think he would hold up well.

He's not going to make it out of the first round.

His ability to shed tackles is really impressive.

Jeanty

He doesn't have great speed or size and won't be able to bounce off tackles in the NFL like he does now. I sort of see him as a MJD type of pro, which isn't bad.
Being up here in Broncos territory, I've seen a lot of Jeanty and heard the MJD comparison a few times. In fact, I think Dirk Koetter has made that comparison. The Rebels had a good plan for defending him and executed it well. Frankly, I'd never seen him get hit like he did on his first two attempts. That said, there were three or four shoetop tackles - and one turf monster - that don't usually bring him down. I remember a few times thinking, "wow, he didn't step out of that. I thought he was gone." Damage could've been a lot worse, but credit to the Rebels D. Instead, he ends up with 'only' 128 yds and one TD, and P4 apologists saying, "see, I told you he was overrated," when they'd love it if their guy could put up such "pedestrian" numbers.

A Lot can change but..

CSU stinks, they have nothing, but easy schedule, that's it.
Its the Mediocre West...
Outside UNLV and Boise, everyone else can lose to anyone else on any given weekend. Their offense isnt good with the threat of Horton. Fresno is probably our best bet to beating them, but I wouldnt count out Rivalry vs Wyoming, or Utah St offense playing for pride.

A Lot can change but..

UNLV in Vegas, need to schedule 2 P5 games at home each yr. No reason not to have Utah/BYU on the schedule. Texas Tech/OK State would bring fans.
Become Gonzaga of MWC in football, play anyone and win, B12 will be ready, with ACC going where? I see Stanford/Cal and SMU in PAC, that be 2nd choice.

4 games UNLV needs to win, and go from there. WIN WIN.

don't get me started on KK, I forgot hoops season is coming soon.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah you don't see a lot of P4 teams play good G5 teams. Even at their peak BSU could never get a game vs a good team outside of the PAC. After they beat OU not a lot of Big 12, SEC teams etc clamored to play them. Meanwhile Michigan, ND, OSU etc had no problems playing us. That probably cools after this season.
It's going to be a lot harder to get a bodybag payout game now. I don't think anyone is paying us 1MM+ to come in and not just roll over anymore.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's the thing. The Big 12 is probably scared of us. If we keep a good profile and become an known football threat, then a loss to us doesn't look too bad.

But it isn't a great business model for P4 teams to schedule G5 teams that they could easily lose. Just saying.

Agree. The only solution to this conundrum is to make us a full-fledged member of the Big 12

Marvin

For those who don't know MM is the current coach of the Kansas City Roos of the Summit league.

He was voted coach of the year for taking the team from a bottom feeder to a league contender. ( finished third in conference )

His team is predicted anywhere in the top three of his league this year.

Just another team to watch.

What adjustments would you like to see a couple of weeks from now?

1- Get Ricky involved early on quick screens and outs. They've had a lot of success with that. Get teams to cheat up on that. Use it to set up double moves by WRs to hit bigger shots down the field.

2-Inside the red zone especially inside the 5 run the ball between the tackles. You have to be able to smack teams in the mouth on occasion.
We definitely don't do enough of 1. Also, there is this thing called the middle of the field. It's not a penalty if you utilize it. Not every pass has to be deep on the sidelines.

Out of town fan here.....

G5 fan here from MTSU(if that matters). Coming into town Nov 15th weekend and going to the SDSU game. been following UNLV all season bc of this and it has been fun see the success y'all have had. My question is what's there to do pregame by the stadium, any tailgating areas etc. looks like WSKY is the only bar/restaurant by stadium. bringing a friend from New Zealand and its his first college football game. Any info/help would be appreciated. Always down to talk some football. thanks

PAC HIRES OCTAGON

That's how I see it.

Their 'metrics' may come back to bite them in the ass.

I have no inside info but I have a strong suspicion that OSU/WSU weren't necessarily the catalysts in all of this mess. I would not be shocked if Boise and SDSU who have been looking to get out of the MWC forever didn't approach OSU/WSU at the start.. PAC had the brand and the money to get it started.

What's so damn stupid about the whole thing it may end up costing them more in the end hiring a consulting firm, plus legal fees, plus anybody they go after like Memphis is going to drive up their price.

PAC could have simply blown up MWC from the start by inviting/including UNLV and USU. MWC would have been left with UNM, Reno, Hawaii, AFA, and San Jose State. At that point AFA almost certainly bounces to the AAC.

Now you're sitting with 3 full members and Hawaii.

Gloria would have zero leverage and really her only options would be to try and merge with CUSA. Or maybe try and merge with AAC somehow. But a rebuild of conference at that point seems unlikely.

PAC now sitting at 8 teams would already have a media rights evaluation And a full conference. They could then grab Gonzaga and St Mary's creating a really nice basketball conference to boot.

Who knows maybe they have it figured out and we're just wish casting their demise. But it would be hilarious if Octagon and their media partners tell them you need to circle back and consider a reverse merger.
I think you're right about Boise St and SDSU.

If Octagon end up suggesting to them a reverse merger as a best case scenario, Gloria should offer WSU and OSU a sweet UNLVesque package. Give them a free-pass to leave for a p4, cut their poaching fee in half, a larger cut of the media rights, and most importantly, leave STDSU, Boise St, and the Utah State Diddlers out to dry. CSU and Fresno would be given a 2nd chance with UTEP's similar package.

I can dream. It would definitely save the PAC2 a ton of money.

A Lot can change but..

It won’t matter they have absolutely no shot whatsoever of beating BSU.

Never no shot what so ever! The entire first, second and third string for BSU could come down with food poisoning!
No shot!?!?
It was a one score game we just played. One where we had the advantage nad shot ourselves in the foot.
A game where we lost the tirnover battle. The thing that we have pretty much won every other game we played.
I wouldn't bet on us, but we have more than just a chance on a rubber match game

Me?

#1)Give the god damn ball to Ballungay out in the open.

This one catch per game isn’t acceptable.

#2) Sounds dumb but I would go a little more conservative. Go a little more smash mouth and run the ball. Put a couple of more offensive linemen out.

Okay and best students of all time. Good ole SDSU!!

You would laugh if you knew how often companies hire high dollar consultants just for them to say what companies don’t want to hear.
