Top 25 tomorrow

I really don't think we have much to worry about with other teams, as I believe we control our own destiny, assuming Boise wins next week.

If we were to beat Boise on the road in the MW conference game, that would be the best G5 win in all of the contenders. It would be against a potential top 10 team at the time, and a win against someone in the final CFP rankings, which I believe would be something that Tulane or Army could not say.

Just win baby.

I guess you're just happy with mediocrity on offense!

I like the thought, I'm just not convinced that #20ish UNLV beating #11ish BSU would jump #16ish Tulane beating theoretical 11-1 Army. Possible, just wouldn't want to bank on it
Yes, in the CFP rankings it absolutely would. Remember, they're looking at body of work as a selection committee. If UNLV adds a top 10 road win as a conference champion with 2 P4 road wins that's a more impressive resume than Tulane losing to both it's P4 opponents. In fact I anticipate that if it's UNLV vs Boise in the final, the CFP rankings the week leading up to that will jump UNLV ahead of Tulane. Tulane is ranked based on shear volume of consecutive wins, but they have a weak resume.

They say SOS matters, and most prognosticators value wins against other CFP teams. Army would drop out if Tulane beat them, Boise would not. Same record, with some similar losses. Though we would have the ability to revenge one of those losses.

They are the biggest threat, that is for sure. Curious to see what happens since they were idle this week.

Marion goes to.....

I'm betting Marion gets the Tulsa job... they're firing the coach and that's his Alma mater
Good call.

Interesting career play. If the rumor of FSU OC interest is true, may be better for the high end of his career. If he succeeded at Tulsa to the tune of 2 or 3 8+ ein seasons over 5 years, what's the job upgrade from there? Another G5 program? Maybe a Texas Tech or something?

Go to Florida Stare as OC and succeed, the world is your oyster from the coordinator game. But it's also true thay failure there as OC would probably set him back to lower G5 coordinator job or P4 position coach.

Interesting future to watch

Marion goes to.....

Marion deserves more credit that he is getting here. It does seem like he uses the same tricks here which seem "stale" but those tricks often work. There are a lot of moving parts to this offense, so simple tactics can be effective just due to all of the components that the defenses have to account for.

It is more complicated than we are giving credit for.

I have my gripes. I feel that we don't utilize all of our weapons enough. I think we struggle to create holes between the tackles, especially early in games. It is an offense that is meant to only have 1 or 2 reads for a QB, but we have so much experience and talent on offense, you'd think we'd open it up more.

We all know he is here for the short term, as he is here twice as long as he has been practically every where else. I am appreciative of his time here. I also think Odom will find another high quality OC, though it is hard to expect it being AS good right away, but it is possible.

Marion goes to.....

Be pretty shocked if he doesn't get it.

Funny thing.

Accirding to this article, both he and Odom were rumored as candidates last time. (Odom was actually close to taking the job and withdrew his name to take job here.)

That's something that usually happens to UNLV

Marcus Arroyo

Arroyo was not the worst coach in our history.

There is a lot to NOT like about him. He gave up on his first season before it even started. He was a bit of a dick apparently, and probably a bit too flashy for my liking. An offensive guru that had some pretty ineffective offenses here.

But he did bring in some of the best recruiting classes we have ever had up to that point (Odom has surpassed that but winning does help), he got us to 5-7 in 3 years, which is as good that most of our coaches ever get.

Odom has given credit to Arroyo with this roster, and the fact is that we wouldn't be this good this fast without Arroyo. Which is why I don't believe the "slow build" argument applies here, since the build started with Arroyo given the utilization of so much of his talent.

Dude is a good recruiter and his offenses can be effective (they have everywhere but here).

They did. My point was that the ranked G5 non MWC teams are still "in the way" ... with Army probably falling out of the poll, they are basically a non factor. A Tulane loss to Memphis would be great for us. Losing to a team who could get ranked but can't make the title game basically locks up that BSU vs UNLV winner (if that's how it plays out....) is the G5 representative

Sounds about right.

UNR @ UNLV - Fremont Cannon Game

Ticket sales should pick up this week with the CSU loss. With a top 25 ranking and the MWC championship game on the line maybe more casual fans will want to see the last home game of a really special season.

I do see a lot of lower bowl tickets on the visitor side available and I don’t know if they’ll sell all those. Hard to imagine UNR fans buying $104-$150 seats to see this team. I mean, hell UNR just lost a game where the AFA didn’t complete a single forward pass.

Hopefull our favorite troll @wolfgang jayn buys some tickets and shows up. He seems to be happy with UNR getting 3 wins this season and improving from last year.
There are only around 300-400 seats still available in the bottom section.

OT: Women’s Volleyball

Not even her own teammates are cool with it being the captain is suing the school over it.
Hopefully, the team pulls out of the tournament. I think we are the next team to move up into that spot. Wishful thinking on my part. More likely the guy/gal pulls themselves out of the tournament.

This should never have been allowed.
