UNLV 3rd on CFP Anger Index

Real possibility. UNLV got some resume help today with SJSU beating Stanford. Would get even more help if KU can get bowlveligible by beating Baylor.

A Syracuse upset of Miami would be nice.
Houston beating BYU would be nice too. If we didn’t get F’d by the refs vs Syracuse one loss would probably guarantee us a bye with a BSU win.

Actually it does matter... because if chaos happens tomorrow in the Big 12 Race and ASU, ISU, BYU lose tomorrow then there's probably a good chance the MWC champ hosts a game no matter what.

This situation is especially frustrating because I truly believe we have (injuries notwithstanding) a top 2 MWC roster that has the upside of a super lucky sweet 16 run. It really seems like there's no scheme, no players understand their role (DTJ included) and it devolves very quickly. I thought after the UNR game last year that the fans walking out moaning about CKK were a bit silly but now it's clear to me that man, it might just be the coach.

I wish it worked out with Kruger, because he's clearly a guy who cares about the program and the city. I think this team would really benefit from the extra juice of an interim HC, but I suspect that the AD wants to wait until after the redshirt window closes to make any such moves. Maybe they have a lot of NIL money wrapped up in that Toyota ad I see all the time, lol.

How the committee ranks us from here on out means VERY little (almost meaningless now)

Beat UNR and Boise, and we are in as the 12th seed. Simple as that.

Depressing

I go to every game. It is depressing.

Football has absolutely proven if you win they will come. It doesn't need to be a big name coach. I bet less than 20% of the UNLV fan base had ever heard of Odom before he came. It doesn't need to be big pay. USU Danny Sprinkle got $ 900K and went to the dance his first year.

I don't believe we can afford the $ 4 million needed to lure away a successful bigger time coach. You need either a previously failed P4 coach with a vision/plan or a young winning lower level coach. NO assistants without previous head coaching experience. I would take a run at Russell Turner first - $ $388,000. ( I know he hasn't been interested in leaving in the past but who knows) Tod Simon $ 344,000. Brought a program in the boondocks to life. Knows Vegas. Joe Pasternak - UCSB $ 500,000. NCAA's two of the past three years. Knows the West. Eric Henderson - South Dakota State. $ 379,000 Summit League 1st or 2nd every year he's been head coach.(5 years)

And the list goes on.

BUT - unless you can figure a way to raise significant NIL $$ forget it and keep KK. It doesn't need to be a MIL a player. But a coach needs players to compete at the level we want. And I don't believe we can get them without money.
1.) Agreed!
2.) Absolutely not, we should not settle for Kevin again!
3.) Utah State doesn’t have a huge NIL? Sprinkle coached his tail off and we can hire someone who can do the same. We don’t need huge NIL either, just change the coach and get rid of the stink!

Depressing

It has become depressing to watch UNLV basketball. A few year back I would go every once in a will with family members that including my own kids, brothers, cousins, nephews, nieces, etc.. Now none of them have any interest in going to games, UNLV had a chance to interest the next generation of fans, but they have destroyed that chance by putting out an overpriced inferior product that would only be of interest to the casual fan if you lived somewhere like Barstow or North Dakota. Getting boat raced by a fringe top 25 team like Mississippi State is just another feather in the cap of mediocrity of coaching which appears to be the ceiling of the abilities of coach Kruger. He may be a nice guy, but as a coach he is above his head and should go back to being an assistant, or take his money and retire.

His last recruiting class was zero effort because he knew he had an upcoming landing spot where he wanted to be. Collect some decent coin and move on.
just couldn’t land a difference maker, some thought that was nick blake or Reece Brown. The class itself was rated around the top 50. I thought Tillis was a bum but he actually could contribute and understood the offense.

I think it was always going to be Iowa State in terms of pursuing a dream job and even DRF tried to keep him with an extension instead of just taking the buyout. DRF was the one with zero effort.
