Unlv & Air Force in contact w/AAC

I have read 3 different articles now all stating they think the new PAC deal will more than likely be in the 4-6 million range. If that is more accurate than 10-15 million why would any team from AAC go to the PAC?
That could be the case, but it makes no sense. Whatsoever.
First, the MW 4 wouldn't have left to create a conference with no financial benefits and also pay for the privilege.
Second, that is exactly the same money as the current MW. Taking 4 of the best markets plus the PAC 2 without the dead weight of the MW. There is no possible way that it wouldn't be higher. The math does not make sense.
More reports say 10-12. Who knows what it will be and to be honest it really depends on how they round out the rest of the conference.

They wouldn’t. Nickels and dimes you can rationalize. That’s 2-3x the amount.

shes a dunce. But we tend to think those at the top are geniuses, above criticism, they MUST know what they’re doing, they MUST be good - otherwise why would they be hired? Coaches, ADs, presidents, etc.

Once merit as a hiring tool was cast aside … you invite incompetence to prevail. Not every case, but before positions were always earned.
The constant bitching about tough breaks in life is weird man.

Just pointing out that the MWC is undoubtedly worse off after she tried to overplay her hand than they were before. Not saying I would have done it differently. We also don't have all the information that she is privy to, but that was what had been reported early on.

They will definitely not match p4 money, but I'd expect them to get double or more MWC money. And they don't have to give reno, wyo, unm, us currently, any of it. Bigger pie and fewer mouths. Easy choice for them to leave once offered.

Edit- she is the commissioner, her role is to look out for her schools. Expect that to have been in good faith, but it obviously didn't go as good is it could have.

I forget what talking head it was on TV discussing this, but gist of it was he doesn't want to hear that the MWC commish was caught off guard by this move. He said when you basically hand them the blue print of what it would cost to poach you shouldn't be surprised when it happens.

What I'm still not clear on is how Hawaii's football only status is factored into this?

Anybody have insight on it?

I've heard they may have no say if schools voted to dissolve the conference?

If that's the case wouldn't that put MWC technically below the 8 required for conference affiliation already?

In which case wouldn't that additional poaching penalty/fee kick in?

Basically rehashing an earlier post. McMurphy is usually solid on info.

One thing to consider with any of these reports is the possibility that schools both actual targets of the PAC and some that aren't might be leaking false info out for leverage.

Take Memphis for example. Saw a couple things pop up today linking ACC interest to both Memphis and USF. Was this Memphis and USF leaking stories to try and sweeten deal with new PAC? Maybe even add more pressure on AAC commish?

This story has USU and UNLV linked as next targets of PAC. Are they? Possibly. Is this USU and UNLV trying to put some pressure on MWC commish to give them a bigger cut of MWC deal if they stay put?

Odom finishes strong and we are looking?

That's my point. I know some would like to hire Marion if Odom leaves, but I'd rather go offer a HC that might be on the sidelines looking for their shot and just looking for a big opportunity with a hood foundation.. I sure hope we aren't hiring assistants again as first time HCs, especially those with minimal experience as a coordinator

I'm in the camp of previous HC experience. But a lot depends on who's available should this occur.

I wouldn't limit my search to just former HCs though.

Considering how well the defensive coach has done, not so sure he wouldn't end up as the next head coach if they took an assistant.

If I was Harper and Odom had been offered a job he couldn't refuse I'd ask him at his exit interview...

'Barry who can keep this going. Give me some names'.

Harper and Odom have a good relationship. Odom comes across as a stand up guy.

I think Odom would give him an honest answer. And I think Harper would be wise to take whoever he said into serious consideration.

James Madison - group of 5 competition?

We need to take care of our own business and beat them both ourselves. FSU is looking like they will be pretty good. SJSU looks decent and they have given us a hard time as of late. We don't have many easy games on our schedule and need to worry about our own games.
The last 4 games are the easiest of the year. Get past the first eight, and UNLV has a really good shot at winning out.

It doesn’t mean UNLV isn’t real, but 3-0 UNLV won against teams that are 2-9

Agreed. Its tough to move up in bye weeks, but you never know
Because of the number of teams ranked around UNLV that lost, I am not sure it will hurt UNLV too much. While BSU is playing a lower division team, that will be seen by the voters, and they could pass UNLV up, but there are a bunch of teams in the 20-35 range that either struggled or lost. It also helps that many of the teams that are competing for the group of 5 position also struggled. Liberty is in a close game with East Carolina, NIU lost to Buffalo, Memphis lost to Navy, and Toledo lost to Western Kentucky. Add in a few key loses like #22 Nebraksa, Michigan State losing to Boston College, California losing to Florida State (funny), Arizona State losing to Texas Tech, North Carolina losing to James Madison, Kansas State losing badly to BYU (but could end up giving BYU votes).

Also #25 Texas A&M struggling to win 26-20 over 1-2 Bowling Green could lose them some votes in the AP.

It is looking more and more like it could come down to BSU/UNLV. Keep winning and UNLV will go in as the group of 5 team.

I got the craziest thing on Friday!!

I’m fb friends with Adam, I think he was a year or two behind me, I also went to Garside. Rest Boyz, I rember that gang on campus, I think that was the mixed race on campus that shot the two Pinot boyz.
Adam is very cool. Didn’t hang out with him until last night.

I saw one of the bonanza year books that my cousin had..

There’s one with two flipside 29ers (they wore Florida State colors I believe)throwing up their gang signs on the upper right corner lol.

I got the craziest thing on Friday!!

I didn’t go to the football game because the clouds looked like it was going to rain.

Man , I was at my reunion and there was this woman ..class of 1991 from Bonanza. I forgot her name. She was there with her boyfriend/husband in our class. I was chatting it up with her because nobody was talking to her.

I was stoned to the gills.

We also had some people who went to Garside/CMHS.

I smoked it out with our class president Dan Zavala and Adam Race. They went to Garside. They started way before I ever did..

Can’t believe they got a head start. I got a super late start on the whole marijuana/drinking thing..

Hahah, there was a cool group called “the shit headz”

Maybe it was the Reet Boyz that shot them dudes up.

It really sucked growing up during the “gang heydays”

By 1997..I remember going to Circus Circus and not getting asked “where are you from?”

Had to be a CIA psy-op when Gangster rap came out.
