Unlv & Air Force in contact w/AAC

Pretty much how I read it...Wouldn't be surprised if Utah State wasn't part of that discussion as well.

I hadn't ever thought about AAC adding UNLV and AF as a way to entice Memphis and Tulane to stay.

There is a ton of maneuvering right now for sure.
So here's a what if...
Glory calls and offers 30% of the departure fees collected to UNLV, an increased revenue share to say 5 million per year, with a 5 year commitment(ie- 5 year penalties to leave, after 5 none) to help build conference back to stay... do you take that?

It doesn’t mean UNLV isn’t real, but 3-0 UNLV won against teams that are 2-9

I think the positive outlook on this is typically these bigger conference schools absolutely dominate our O and D lines and that hasn’t been the case. They held up to a really good runner in Devin Neal. The defense being as stout as they have been against UH and KU gives me a lot of hope that they will hold serve against MW schools. Nervous about this week with Fresno, but two weeks prep should hopefully give us a decent edge and hopefully getting the offense sured up. Syracuse will be the litmus test IMO.

I still don't believe the Pac will call our number if they get Memphis and Tulane. If anything they will get more schools from Central to East Coast. They are just playing us in hopes we and AF try and convince Memphis and Tulane to stay in the AAC. That is where our focus should be. Travel costs be damned. Go where we are wanted. Mr. Harper get on the phone with Memphis and Tulane.

My new updated what I hope happens rankings.

1- Pac negotiations implode and they all have to come crawling back.

2- UNLV joins PAC with USU

3- AAC out maneuvers PAC brings in UNLV and AF and Tulane and Memphis stay. PAC left scrambling.

4- Everything else would suck.

I take that to mean our commissioner is calling UNLV and offering a kings ransom for us to call everyone else and tell them we're sticking around.

That recommitment to the conference isn't going to go very far. Each school has to take care of themselves at this point. I could see them on a conference call asking the schools if they will recommit to the MWC. On the other end of the phone each school will saying "yes" while shaking their heads NO.

Who said UNLV TV numbers were low?

Excellent find. I am pretty sure our numbers are going to be a lot higher after this season.
Pay wall. What did article say?
This is the main focus for us:

"Boise State’s TV audience ranked No. 3 among Mountain West teams that played at least four publicly rated games, according to sportsmediawatch.com. UNLV led the conference, averaging 1.46 million viewers in five publicly rated games. Air Force ranked No. 2 with 1.14 million viewers in four applicable games. Wyoming ranked No. 4 with an average of 730,000 viewers in five games."

Who said UNLV TV numbers were low?

Not according to the Idaho news paper who compared Boise States TV audience for rated televised games to the rest of the MWC for 2023. Boise came in no. 3. No. 1 was?

I know. I laugh my ass of because they are using viewership numbers from when UNLV sucked and could never get on TV, and when they did it was on a streaming service. They have ignored the last 2 years. Why do they think UNLV has 11 of 12 games on national TV this season, is it because nobody wants to watch?

But if you just got 120 million dollars from the departure of 4 teams, you kick 5 million to Montana easy... I'm not familiar with NDSUs current stadium/infrastructure to do so, but Montana absolutely has the facilities and are currently constructing a huge indoor football practice facility. Plus their fans are amazing for a small level school. They could easily transition.
Ndsu plays in the fargo dome. Capacity 19,000. Until recently they filled it. Ndsu fans really suck as they act like bama fans, as they have been bama of the fcs. While Ndsu is a small tv market, it is better than Wyoming.

Meh. I think where our programs differ is that for us as UNLV fans, this is uncharted territory. For BSU, it isn't about knocking off average P4 teams. They historically have cashed in on bigger cash ins regularly for 15-20 years. I love that we cashed in twice this year. Keep doing it and leave no doubt.

I dont know if it was in this thread, but my point was it's not ridiculous for BSU to be ranked and UNLV not to be. 3 games in, both teams have clearly got stuff to work on. I'd rather UNLV be in the position we are than the position BSU is. By end of year, I expect Oregon to be in the playoff conversation and Kansas and Houston to be outside Big 12 championship contention, so there is an amount of impressiveness and "we can hang" with top dogs for BSU, even in a loss.
At the end of the day, winning is all that matters.

Being ranked, or just outside of being ranked, is amazing for our program. Never thought in a million years we would be in this position.

However, biggest focus for our team is beating Fresno on Saturday. It is imperative to start off conference play 1-0. The goal in front of us is to win a MWC championship. Do that, and the rest will take care of itself. Beat Fresno!
