I'd take Reno. It's either them or Sacramento State. But you guys are now locked down. No one is going anywhere, right? Or just what does your new agreement thru 2032 say? Is there even an exit option/fee? Can Reno invoke the 1890 Sherman Act like the Pac is trying to do? :)

And I want Hawaii in FB so we can create the Alaska/Hawaiian Air Pac-TBD
Its alright, I’ll allow it. Take reno.

ABOUT THAT MONEY...

Well not quite what the article says, but I get you. I had read that article previously. Hard to believe though, that the Pac would cover most or all of the Traitors exit fees then only offer Memphis, etc. $2.5M. But then our Commissioner is an idiot.

Per the article:

"At the time, the idea that in less than a year the Pac-12 would be willing to pay roughly $115 million for one-third of the Mountain West seemed unrealistic.

The Pac-12 would be willing to help fund the exit fees, the schools were told, which took away the primary risk factor"
I guess you have to look at it with this perspective... what do you have to offer Boise and SDSU to form a real core to attract the next tier and that meant going strong after the first 4- offer to cover all the fees. Then they thought more programs would shake loose and MWC crumbles = no fees... so you low ball Memphis and hope they wanted to come play in your hopefully strong top to bottom conference as a move up rather than status quo... but your commissioner hasn't exactly shown savy here so who knows

OK I feel I "little better" if this is true.

What if...(Hope springs eternal thinking here)

But what if...

UNLV goes to Gloria..

You pay us X amount we stay buying time for you to rebuild the conference.

We are currently in talks with the BIG12 and intend to leave in 20XX.

No exit fees. No grant of rights stuff. Free and clear.

The other less sunshine and roses scenario is UNLV added the P4 verbiage to keep the dogs at bay in terms of negative fan and booster reaction. 'Just say P4 these fools will buy it.
Honestly that is my hope of what exactly is happening.

That they are talking to the Big 12. They say, "we like what you are doing" keep it up and we may reach an agreement in the future.

It also explains why we aren't going to the PAC, which will obviously be a better conference than the leftover MW with significantly more annual revenue. If a true, legit shot to join the Big 12 is possible.

Still a long shot, and we still might have to bust the playoff this year or get damn close. And maybe follow that up with another very good year next year.

All while improving TV numbers and attendance.

But all of this drama this week will at least get people tuning in to see us. And if we keep winning, climb the rankings, then I think both ratings and attendance will improve (ratings more than attendance, but for media deals, at least that matter more). This drama is giving us some national intrigue. Hopefully we can capitalize

There’s gonna be 2 more traitors..

You guys sure you don’t want Reno?

Ok, so hear me out...
Gloria targets 2 football only Schools for expanded regional coverage with NIU and Toledo, adds 1 Texas school for all sports...
That's 10 football and 8 basketball programs...
So you swing for the fences and add Gonzaga and St. Mary's and now you balance 10 and 10...
I mean, that's one hell of a job as a commissioner if she can swing that
You need 8 full members to be a BCS conference. You only have 6.

ABOUT THAT MONEY...

There was a behind the scenes article 2 days after the original announcement The article said the firm used to vet candidates told them the Pac 12 as part of the offer to join would cover their exit fees.... now there's nothing explicitly written in stone but if that was an insider report of how things went down, I'd believe it...

If that does occur, I'd be pleasantly suprised. That would be a fun bball conference and not horrendous at football. A strong football Ooc and we are fine.

Good BB conference football not so much

Heck lets just swing for the fences and offer Gonzaga and St Marys as bball only and really mess with the pac here. Lol can you imagine if that occured and we added the few decent teams available from the MAC and CUSA (NIU, Liberty, UTEM, NMST). pac would be left with scraps to get to 8.

HUGE NEWS!

So for all the doom and gloomers...
UNLV fleeced the MWC, did not sign a GOR, and have basically an open clause that lets them leave to a P4 if the invite comes without penalty.. 10 million lump sum Adds 1.5-1.8 million annually in addition to their normal payout... Huge competitive advantage that we just got
You mean, with Boise St. and their premium gone, we have to start hating ourselves, instead?
