Allegiant

I don’t know… was thinking about this today. In most college towns they shut down, no other events or activities, no kids sports are being played during that time so everyone can go to it or at least watch the game. My kids both have sporting events today and I’m at work. So there are 4 of us who are regular attendees who can’t go today. I think Vegas has moved on from UNLV and we are just hanging on. They needed to be at the top of their game 10-15 years ago to have the momentum and interest when pro sports arrived.

This Mornings RJ Article

Did anyone see this morning's interview between the JRJ and Erick Harper and Keith Whitfield. I think that overall its a great article, but one thing in particular caught my eye. I'll quote directly from the article. RJ: How realistic is an eventual Power Four bid for UNLV, and do you believe you are better positoned for that now than two weeks ago? EH: "And so those opportunities are going to present themselves. When? If I had a crystal ball, I'd be able to give you the right answer. But I don't. So what is important for us, as I've said many, many times,is if we don'ttake care of home, we don't get an invitation regardless of realignment. We have to take care of home. And right now, we're doing a very good job with coach Odom in doing that piece of it on the football side, and we're looking to take additional steps this year on the basketball side. Lindy La Rocque has women's basketball squarely in play. My interpretation of that is they'll be looking for a new men's basketball coach. Perhaps upgrading with some new money coming in? How do you guys read it?

WW. Please.

NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

UTEP is closer to Las Vegas than Montana. Actually Vegas is closer to El Paso than I am to El Paso and I live in Houston.
The Montana schools would cost 10 mil to "Call up" to to FBS. Their entire state barely has 1 million people. They are good FCS schools, but more often than not teams struggle for a while making the transition.
They are close to Wyoming, but offer little media value and probably not competitive value either.
Sac St. makes more sense from a market perspective if we call up a FCS and it looks like they are already making the infrastructure moves to do so. Have the Montana schools done that? I sincerely don't know.
Last year Montana state averaged just under 22,000 per game. We averaged just over 22,000 per game. The Montana grizzlies averaged just under 26,000 per game.

Someone pointed this out on Twitter...

And I couldn't agree more. The number of insufferable Oregon State fans trying to copy with their conference not being what they thought it would be, and punching "down" at UNLV, has multiplied rapidly this week.

Just me and this one other person, or does everyone now have crap from these goofs on their timelines?
Let the Beavs be Beavs. We will be at their house soon enough with Woodard and Company doing our talking on the field.

Ticket sales

It doesn't appear that ticket sales have done nearly as well as I am sure UNLV has hoped. Based on tickets available it first looks like almost all of the tickets are sold when you go under the UNLV v Fresno State single game ticket sales, but when you go under the season tickets available, it looks like there are still 3-5K available in total. It looks like they have been moving available tickets over from season to individual games as needed. Sections C140-C135, C132-C131 and section C103 all appear to have plenty of seats available. At least the so called home side is mostly sold out.
