Estimate for MWC media deal

Sure, here's the terms. You pay the full exit fee for UNLV and guarantee a minimum of $10 million per year in media money.
AND no exit fee if a P4 sends an invite.
Ok and OK. But in return we trade coaching staffs.

On my board they are canonizing our new FCS HC (he of 2 whole years as a HC) and drooling over our new assistants. Even though WSU is supposedly (direct from our AD's mouth) increasing our assistant pool from $3.6M to 4.5M, of our 6 asst. hires so far, 5 are from FCS and one from NAIA. And their sum total of FBS coaching experience is -0-.

UTEP gets former 5-Star QB

I think the view of him is he's this robotic turnstile that just handed the ball to Jeanty and that was it.

He made a lot of good throws against us. He converted a number of 3rd and 8+ throws to keep drives alive.

Penn States defense is insanely talented.

I'd take Madsen as QB for UNLV in a heartbeat.

He can play.

The 'game manager' tag is always viewed negatively implying a guy is the product of a system or not that great.

I think it's a stupid label. It's exactly what you want your QB to do. Play within the system. Don't turn the ball over. Make the 'easy' plays. The better QBs are the ones that can do that, but also deliver when things go off schedule or plays break down. Madsen did that plenty this year. He's accurate, throws with touch and he can hurt you with his legs a bit..

I'm not sure there is a better QB in the MWC right now.
I would take him over Hajj or Sluka 100x out of 100 and if we had traded Hajj for Madsen we would have beaten them in the title game 100%. I would take him over the new kid from VA too.

Tony Sanchez Most Important UNLV Football Coach Ever?

I don't think so. I believe that SDSU and some others believed that they could stick it to UNLV. Otherwise, UNLV would have been offered before Memphis. I can't imagine SDSU, CSU and others allowing UNLV to have an out clause that they themselves did not possess. Furthermore, this difference in out clause is one of the reasons that many list UNLV as most likely from those choices to the Big 12. Without the large exit fee and with minimal debt, UNLV could afford to take one third or one quarter of the Big 12 norm. With their debt, the MWC exit fee and the the Pac exit fee, I doubt that SDSU could, even if offered. However, even if your assumption was true, would UNLV then have had the money for Mullen, his entire staff, increased NIL and profit sharing. Mullen, hist staff, larger NIL and profit sharing >>...>>> a membership in the Pac whatever. I believe that SDSU, not UNLV, will regret their decisions, if UNLV gets a Big 12 invite at a reduced payout. From a business perspective, this is opportunity cost.
SDSU may have thought that but we see how that worked out for them. At that point when they saw options dwindling I think we could have been the ones doing the sticking.

They haven't collected any of the fees yet so I can't imagine any of that is going to Mullen or increased NIL. Profit sharing possibly.

UTEP gets former 5-Star QB

Bottom line we basically forced Madsen to beat us when we were able to contain Jeanty, and he did just that.

He basically did the same against Penn State. Boise was able to move the ball and extend drives and in the second and third quarter and that was basically all Madsen.

He is an easy guy to hate on, but part of the reason he is hate-able is because he is a good player.

100%..

Is he an NFL guy? No...But he's a damn good QB. Did having Jeanty give him some favorable looks. Yep. But when he needed to make a play this year he was more than capable.

Thanks for the link. Apparently I missed the wrinkle of the alleged Pac offer and accompanying $6M. 3 months ago!

That said, wouldya couldya reconsider now? The Pac is pretty much f-ed. Bet they (we) would agree to just about anything. :)

I think they get 5-6.

PAC gets 8-10.

Boise is pissed. Since it's only a million more than they are getting now.
I think it fully depends on the 8th member.

But they took our 4 or 5 best markets, and left all of the bad ones.

Every school we added is at or below our current Mean value in my estimation.

Currently their least valuable school, USU would be our mean more or less.

I think they get 10 easy if we truly are getting 6.

UTEP gets former 5-Star QB

I mean, thats technically the definition of a "game manager" right? lol..

He wasnt really called upon to win games on his arm alone.. He made a few nice passes, a few good reads in the running game when things broke down, but Boise's biggest weapon was protecting their possessions with Jeanty. Fumbles and ints were few and far between. Part of that is being a game manager, playing it safe, making a good throw vs throwing a HR ball into triple coverage... Against PSU he had to go try and win the game because they got behind and because Jeanty's impact was limited, thus you saw the bad throws and the turnovers. Solid QB, but the offensive game plan was very simple and the QB play and maybe thats why he won over Nelson matched that- dont gamble, play it safe, make the simple throw, take advantage when you can but protect the ball.

Ill tell you one thing about Madsen..He's not just the 'game manager' people think. Aside from the 3 picks vs PSU he protected the ball all season. But more than that he made some very nice throws when call upon. That throw in back of end zone in MWC title game was as good a throw as I have seen. He made a couple in the 1st meeting in big situations against the Rebs as well. Boise will take a hit without Jeanty obviously but I'm not sure they fall off a cliff. Madsen is a solid QB.. (Not saying you were suggesting he wasn't)

The one guy, JT. The one to the left, wearing an Air Force t-shirt.
Doesn't, even have a UNLV shirt. You know, the flagship program of the new Mountain West.
So, I can't really take these guys that serious. Plus, they live in the East Coast and not in any MWC state.
They, are guessing on the number of how much the MW will get as far as the media values will go to.
I am thinking, 5 to 7 million dollars.

Agree, and I would have to think that’s the case when he lost to Madsen. Probably has good arm talent and mobile, but that will only get you by for so long.

Estimate for MWC media deal

Watched the entire show. Almost fell asleep once.

Here is my half awake opinion on what I heard.

The hot topic for us would be media valuation. Remember, these guys know about as much as what is going to happen as the rest of us. The main take from both of the guys was that fans are going to be disappointed from both conferences regards media revenue. Some on here have been saying that specifically regarding the Pac. One guy was thinking the Pac could get something from 8-10 million and the MW getting as much as 7 million which later he revised that amount to just saying 4-6 million. Numbers being pulled out of their ass as they really are just guessing.

They got into who we may be partnering with regards to media companies and who the pac may be partnering with.

One guy was thinking we are not done expanding and there may be a possibility of one more for football addition in the MW. The same guy even said he has a good idea who the 8th team is for the pac. Although, like most of these guys they aren't going to say who. It's click bait to me to get you to keep coming back and watch their show.
Truth we won't know until these things are officially announced.
A conference is as valuable as what their media partners are willing to pay. We have our guesses, we have to read between the lines, etc etc.

Whaley status

I treat a good amount of spines. I have been a part of the biggest individual physical therapy spine study in the country.

I have seen a lot of backs. He didn't look good at the Riverside game I went to, and he did look like he has put on weight.

It's tough for a guy like Rob in terms of weight. When you can't exercise and you are a big dude anyway, its tough NOT to gain weight when your back acts up. He is probably used to running all of the time, lifting all of the time. Stop that, you are going to gain weight.

Of course the extra weight put more load on the back.

I don't think he is faking it. I have seen dudes fake. I saw him react to being bumped when he didn't see it coming.
