Kennesaw State kicked a field goal. Fast forward to the two minute timeout. Liberty scores on a TD pass, is now down 27-24. Kennesaw gets the onside kick and goes for it on 4th n2, gets 1.
Liberty has 6 seconds and like 70 yards to go. But it's Liberty and we all know they seem to have last second game-saving plays.
Salters on 1st down throws 25 yards downfield and out of bounds, games over. Students rush the field for the Owls!
Except the refs review it and put a single second back. Flames gonna hail mary? Gonna get involved in the pitch game?
The latter. Flames end up doing basically nothing after an errant pitch on the 2nd or 3rd attempt. The Owls get their first ever win as an FBS team, and their first ever win against an FBS team, beating undefeated Liberty 27-24.
Their football program first started playing in 2015. 2022 was their first ever losing season. They have had the same coach for all 10 years, and even had multiple 11-12 win seasons.
