UNLV playoff chances & discussion

The one thing, that nobody talks about against Boise St.
Was, when Hajj Williams ran that 71 yards in the 1st quarter and we didn't score a TD.
UNLV, was on the 3 yard line, first and goal. And, settled, for a field goal.
UNLV, needed that TD. Yes, it was early in the game, but that determined the outcome of things to come.
You, need all the TD's, you can get.
Many missed opportunities to put away Boise in that game. Another reason I like our chances. Beat Reno and put it all on the table in Boise. If we don’t pull it out well then we don’t deserve a playoff spot anyway.

CFP Ranking 11/26/24

Its clear this committee likes Tulane better then some want to think. If Tulane wins out they beat out Unlv
How they're supposed to develop rankings...
-Strength of schedule
-Head-to-head game results
-Results vs. teams in Top 25 rankings
-Results vs. common opponents
-Conference championships
KSU staying fringe top 25 is apparently a better loss than a home loss to Boise, that's all I can see since the head to head and common opponents arent relevant...

Looking back at the Memphis game

I felt like the Memphis game was a huge game for us, but it didn't get much publicity, and the attendance was poor (6,510) for being the biggest non-conference home game of the season. Memphis is still undefeated and knocked off #2 UCONN yesterday and Michigan State today. The Rebels hung with them and could have won that game. I guess I just wished it would have been a better home court advantage with a much bigger and enthusiastic crowd. Memphis plays in the championship game of the Maui Invitational tomorrow against the winner of Auburn and North Carolina. That looks like the loss to Memphis won't hurt UNLV but a win would have really helped.

Concern with UNR game

Reno sucks... they just lost a game where Air Force didn't complete a single pass. They're terrible. Super Bowl or not, they gave up 300 yards rushing to a 3 win team...
That’s another part of my concern… ‘looking at ‘3 win teams’ does not tell the whole story. It might, if they were blow out losses, that’s not the case…
I’m glad we have true focus and leadership on this team, because we will need all of it to finish the way we want!

UNLV playoff chances & discussion

is that really a thing???? I have the app. I just won 3500$ on a 7 teamer. alot of luck ,but the last game was Monday night . I dont know where i could have gotten the buyout. I put up 1300 to hedge it incase i lost. Luckly i bought 1.5 points and tied it on the hedge. Got the 3500 plus the 1300 i invested so NET 3500$ . I might have cashed out before the Sunday night game. I dont bet that much. Maybe 100-250 a month MAX!! That is just during UNLV- NFL season.
FanDuel almost always offers a buyout on parlays or futures that I have seen but for some reason not on the UNLV to make the playoffs future I have. Halfway considering a hedge bet on Boise vs us in the title game to cash out half but don’t think I have the stomach to bet against us even as a hedge.

Pac-12 and MWC Lawsuit Update

We are still getting the almost $90 million in exit fees.

I don't see us losing this lawsuit. They are saying that the Agreement violated anti-trust agreements by hurting their competition. There is nothing in the Agreement that said they couldn't do what they did. They could have merged so how does that hurt their competition. They could re-build the Pac-12 which they chose to do. We didn't try to stop them. All the Agreement said is if you (re-build) by taking MW teams that you have to pay a Termination Fee based on the number of schools taken. They agreed to that. They didn't have to sign the agreement. But they did. Now when it comes time to pay they are making excuses. F'em.
I wouldn't count on more than 55 mil in exit fees.

Industry standard across the country is 2 years worth of media value with a 2 year notice ( or less). That is 11 mil per school ( perhaps more for Boise, but they tend to round it down).

Every conference has these by laws, yet no one pays these exit fees in full, no one. They are always negotiated.

The poaching fees, should hold up if the lawsuit is thrown out.

Odom leaving for WVU?

I don't think that you're being selfish at all. I think that there's something to be said for Coach Odom seeing the success he's having here and the satisfaction of building a nationally recognized strong program. It reminds me of when Tark came to town. But, be forewarned, the administration and boosters are going to have to step up and reward him for the job that he's doing. BTW, did you see the study that UNLV did which showed that UNLV's football contributes $100 million to the local economy? Is the timing just a coincidence?
Missed the study. Can you post a link?
