I would like to agree with his takes. Could be wishful thinking.
Interesting that Harp when on record discussing the travel issue with the AAC.

To answer the OP. Nielson ratings say our TV numbers are low.
Playing Michigan on regular CBS last season really boosted our numbers. Any Michigan team will draw numbers. One with NC legit hopes? Really jacks that up.
I also though we ended up with a better bowl game than Boise. Kansas has probably a better team than UCLA and it was during holiday week which is a ..better time slot.
Butts in the seats matter too, and UNLV has been much lower than their conference standing would dictate. Especially considering what our home field is and the size of our market.
Now this year does offer a lot of opportunity to raise our TV profile. Keep winning will expand our viewership nationally just because people are going to want to watch the playoff contenders play. We also have way more TV games of course .
The Friday Kansas game was good. Houston numbers were bad. I think having additional Friday games will help viewership as well.
Set up your DVRs. Do the same for your inlaws, your parents, your grandparents, etc.

I'm rooting for Kevin hard, but I've seen enough by this point to know he's not 'it' at this point of his career. There is an argument that he's learning on the job and we've seen some positive steps in a positive direction with addressing needs and filling glaring holes with at least stop gap measures. But if we're all being real, if he had the coaching acumen to get it done I think we would have already seen it. We've had just as much talent as anyone except SDSU, but have laid more turds against teams that have no business beating us than any coach I can remember at UNLV--the three-headed Grg/Cle/Howie staff might be worse but I've tried desperately to try and forget those years. in 3 season KK has 11 Q3 and Q4 losses. That's almost 4 terrible losses a season. Those are the losses that cost us NCAA bids the last 2 years (don't think they would have mattered much in Year 1). Those should be money in the bank. Add in the fact that we're 1-3 in the MWC tourney in 3 years with that one win coming against AFA in OT and it's hard for me to see an equation where he's still here next year.

You can make the argument that he's performing slightly better than his salary. There are metrics you can find that support that perspective. I'm not here to hate on anyone that still is a KK stan...I just think I would have seen more of the low bar metrics being crossed at year 3. Maybe this year will be different, but I don't see any evidence that it's going to be a high probability.

Here's the benefit of being in a stronger G5 conference vs Sun Belt or CUSA.

Boise, UNLV, Fresno even SJSUand by proxy WSU/OSU can afford to lose a conference game. Plenty of quality opponents left to bounce back and get back into the mix.

SJSU isnt on a CFP track... It isnt supposed to be on the MWC championship track.. and it took WSU, a 13 point favorite, 2 OTs to win the game with 12 penalties for 109 yards compared to 2 for 15... you tell me?

If you cant get the AAC teams to flip and you cant get the top MWC markets to flip, you guys are going to be in real trouble... you either have to undo all these efforts and come back on knees to MWC and still pay a kings ransom to do so, or settle for what CUSA teams? lower tier MW teams, at which point, I cant see that TV deal being any better than what MWC ends up with... and the MWC commissioner is going to take the fees for departing teams and request money to join... It might not be pretty and will certainly end up in litigation while we should be working towards a top tier G5 TV deal..
