First portal defection of the spring

Ok, where are we keeping track of these:

No offense to him, but these portal entries arent too critical. He was getting no PT last season and wasnt going to touch the field this season. This is like the 3rd entry today and I'm happy to lose players that arent contributing or giving our starters comp in practice.

With that being said, I heard that a WR will be transferring out as well.

1. There is a QB he wants to bring to UNLV but he's in a battle right now for a starting position at another school.
2. Marion might not even be here after the upcoming season so I can see why any qb would be hestitant to transfer here.
1- it's not Ewers is it?

Lol facts. All I'll say is dont look too far from who you mentioned. If/when he is in the portal, I'll publicly announce who it is.
That was my other thought but I didn't see the competition being as much a battle for the 1 with him if it's who I think...

We are on the same page. Its politics with him not being considered. Did you watch their spring game? He was way better than the other qbs.

And you know that if he comes here, he would start from Day 1.

I didn't know Caleb Williams from USC was in a fight for the starting position there. If he lost the number one spot at USC then entered the portal and came to UNLV I guess that would be an upgrade at the qb spot.😁

His NIL deal is probably more than most Casinos rake in on a good weekend, lol... maybe we can throw in a few steak and egg breakfasts to seal the deal

I still have major concerns about the size of our team. I understand that the GO GO offense works well with small fast guys that can make play in space. However I am not sure how we will match up with the other teams in our conference. I am not looking forward to playing Michigan or a much improved Vanderbilt team. Hopefully we can stay healthy.

More portal entries, CB Lacarea Pleasant-Johnson and DL L'Cier Luter.

Pleasant-Johnson transferred in from Utah which is arguably one of the best defenses, especially on the backend. I'm interested as to how he even got a scholarship there because he came here and did absolutely nothing. I expected a lot when he transferred in.

Even if we win the MW, I think most schools would hesitate to pull that trigger.

He is more established. Had a decent, but not great career at Mizzou. SO I could see a big name school hiring him without needing to see him prove it over time first.

But outside BCS busting and/or a NY6 bowl. I think teams will wait to see more sustain success.

Look at other MW coaches that have been poached. How often does it happen after one year?
One winning season IS sustained success at UNLV. Just think of the elite company he would be in if he were to leave UNLV after year one with a winning record and of his own volition. That might make him a company of one and a true Rebel legend.
