What a great hire by HCTS! Great, great job making this hire.

We lost a good DL coach to ASU and HCTS just replaced him with former HC, DC and DL coach Tony Samuel who is a FAR superior coach and a FAR superior recruiter. I'm over joyed about this. TSam is just what we needed to take Coach Joe's place. TSam is an absolute bargain for many reasons such as coaching motor, experience, intelligence, integrity, respect among his peers, recruiting success and connections, etc, but the main thing I admire him for is his ability to connect with his players. Every one of his former players that I've had the honor to speak to, and I'm talking about a large number of players, have said how much they loved the man and that they would run through brick walls for him.

Yes he was. Plus Barney Cotton was Coach T Sam's OC at New Mexico State. Funny how things circle around. HCTS replaced a very good DL coach with a FAR superior DL coach and FAR superior recruiter in one fell swoop. Believe me, if T Sam can convince good prospects to leave places like GA, FLA and TX to go to Las Cruzes and Lincoln, he can get them to come to Las Vegas.

Yes indeed. There are a lot of Nebraskans who have moved to Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Nebraskan's is one of the largest alumni clubs in the nation. The Las Vegas Nebraskans also pick one Rebels game a season to attend together. I welcome them all to come over and make the Rebels their 2nd favorite football team.

T Sam also turned around a NMSU team that held a lot of similarities to UNLV. He was well on his way to making them into a damned good football program until they cut his budget drastically and never delivered on the facility improvements that were promised to him when they made him their HC. The Rebels simply can't let that happen to HCTS or we will end up with the same fate as NMSU who never recovered. HCTS has a good thing going with the foundation he has built. Now we need to get him the rest of the structure.

Maybe some of you Husker types could use your influence to get a home-and-home with Nebraska like Tom Wiesner did with Wisconsin a few years back. There are worse places for the Husker faithful to travel than Las Vegas, especially when they think it's a guaranteed/easy win!

It was actually in the works with the last staff but it was a 2 for 1. If the NFL stadium goes up next door, then we would have a good shot at a home & home.

Talked to an old defensive lineman at church Sunday and he had nothing but good things to say about this man. Can't wait to get a look at him here in a couple of weeks and see how he puts the guys through their paces and the level of respect he gets.
