Available candidates (non UNLV staff)

Sumlin maybe. We all thought maybe he'd get a call last time around. Had a DUI last year at Maryland, but not sure how that would affect anything. He was successful at Houston, but its been a while. Idk if that would necessarily inspire the fan base, but then again there are few names that would at this point.
Lovie was a terrible college coach so no, I dont think hed be a good candidate. I get the appeal of guys who are NFL coaches, but no not in todays college game.. Outside maybe Pete because hes still been very connected to college and lets be real, he was basically running an NIL program at USC, lol.

I still would go hard after a guy like Mullen. You have to play big boy football right now and that would be a huge signal you plan to.
Patterson, Sumlin, Mullen and Harsin, McElwain, Roll-ovich lol and Rich Rod

How about we reach out to another former BSU coach? Chris Peterson. Then again, big names Paul Chryst & Mark Dantonio have been out a few years and might want to have another go. Doesn't hurt to ask

Wow!
There are 2 names I would have never thought to mention!
What do you think about these two?
I was just joking, Lovie was horrible and Sumlin was a bust in Arizona. He was ok at A&M. But a ham sandwich would be ok at A&M.
Mick Ackers just threw out Mullen’s name.

He’s like inverse Cramer. Kiss of death.
That must mean Waddilove is saying it is a done deal in 3, 2, 1...

We can see what Andy Avalos is up to 😂

But for reals... That Florida offense he ran was loaded with talent. dude can win. Was Urbans right hand man as they dominated the MWC early days and at Florida. That's the type of hire you make to show you're serious about college football.
A long shot but worth the attempt. It would be a grand slam home run, even if he does not stay long. It sets the bar for the future and shows the fans and Big12 that you are serious. If it happens, better have a large buyout.

I would have been for firing Odom (before his announcement) if this guy wanted the job. I'm serious.

Large buyouts have to come with large guarantees or large budget for staff hiring. Meaning, unlv would have to guarantee probably the entire contract or guarantee a couple million for staffing.

He’s not throwing his name out, he is actually confirming that Mullen is talking to Harper. “Sources say Mullen is a name to watch.”

Translation: his agent reached out to me to say Mullen is talking to UNLV.

Exactly. A hard maybe.

Which in the past would not have happened at UNLV with such a high profile coach and no other major P4 jobs in play.

Hell, reach out to Mack Brown. He's 73 and may want to end his coaching career on ez-mode. He certainly doesn't need the money so could take less for less stress of the super conference schools

Hell, why not reach out to Joe Biden while we’re at it. He’s gonna have some free time on his hands in about a month.

This would be a dream hire. One person said we are working on having one of the highest NIL budgets in the MWC. I thought someone posted this earlier in the year and we are already number one?
Several of the stories also posted UNLV was moving to the PAC12, so some of these stories did zero research!

We are #2 2.7 mil
SDSU is at like 4 mil
Boise right behind us
I posted this on another thread but it looks like we are talking doubling that which would be $5.4M if true. That would be a huge increase.

Obviously this doesn't matter now, but listening to Seattle sports talk this morning, they mentioned that Stephen Belichick (UW DC) was a candidate for the UNLV job. Sorry if this was already mentioned.
