No way, set UO back a few years. Not a good HC at all.
A lot of flash early then fell off a
Cliff.

Give him a 3 year contract and if he wins boost him each year. Otherwise, can him after 2 years. No more slow grow options. That would be an attempt to retain as may players as possible and salvage recruiting class. And while I understand why you might do that, Im not so sure its the best way to go.
What ever Nevada State Law requires for State employees."Rolovich was successful everywhere. He was fired because he wouldn’t take a Covid jab."
If he won't get the Jab I bet that would exclude him here.
I agree, I’m kinda watching wvu and Rich Rod situation closely. I don’t particularly think silverfield is a legit option.
Yeah there’s a reason he’s in the booth. No way, set UO back a few years. Not a good HC at all.
He inherited Marcus Mariota and some other talent, they graduate and he fell off that cliff.A lot of flash early then fell off a

What year is it?"Rolovich was successful everywhere. He was fired because he wouldn’t take a Covid jab."

"He was solid at Hawaii."He was solid at Hawaii. I don't think his conference record was great though.
I'd throw his WSU record out.
I'd be OK with Rolovich, but I hope he is the new floor at UNLV not the ceiling.
Marion as HC would be extremely disappointing and a failure in this cycle. You don't retain an assistant just because some recruits might go elsewhere because they're still likely to go elsewhere. There's no guarantee he can run a program and his offense has too many weaknesses to not have him focusing 100% on it.
Most these other names are fine. They're all decent candidates.
But you want a splash and to show you're not being small time you either steal a top tier coach from a G5 competitor or you hire Dan Mullen...
"He was solid at Hawaii."
He was 15-17 in Mountain West games at Hawaii. Pass.
2024 and UNLV is still so politically correct we don't have a mascot so as not to offend anyone. .What year is it?
Not enough that I would want him here. He screams Marvin to me. Put up ok numbers at a small school. And in three years no other college has gone after him.Considering obstacles at Hawaii I think you can grade on a bit of a curve.
Given that he should be there and recruiting that's an interesting holdup. How fun would that be for the bowl game... have his official announcement and introduction at the Bowl gameI still come back to Harsin. That deal with Cal isn’t official, he was set to take that job for two days now…no announcement.
I am not completely against Marion.I like Marion, I think he’s got a significant background and the hunger to win. The guy was playing at Tulsa and was homeless at one point, made him work harder. Then after success he goes to the NFL and gets a career ending injury.
Works his way up from the bottom of the barrel coaching ranks. His offense works, and he’s won wherever he’s gone. That being said, two or three things hold him back, imo. One is staffing, two the sluka fiasco, and three not the best speaker.
All three things are fixable, but it sounds like Harper wants a veteran, someone that’s won before and someone with the cache to throw a great staff together again.
I can’t understand how a guy who still lives in Boise, could stand living in a place like Berkeley.Giv

He walks out like a high basketball player with 2 hats before the game. Gronk asks him to choose and he puts on a UNLV hatGiv

I strongly prefer a coach with HC experience but if we go the assistant route then yeah I would prefer Marion than someone outside. Though Marion definitely throws off snake oil vibes to me.I am not completely against Marion.
I agree with what you said. The fact that he has worked under several coaches is a plus. His potential network/Rolodex could be quite impressive.
Also seems to be a really good recruiter.
However, I don't know how much on good terms he has left his previous jobs. I could see it not be great in many cases, but I don't know. Has he burned bridges?
I mean look at Danielson. On paper I argued last year that Marion had a better resume than Danielson. But Obviously Danielson has something special.
Honestly I could see Scherer being just like Danielson. Players definitely seem to like him and run through a wall for him. I don't know if I can say the same for Marion, but you can only extract so much from watching games. Scherer may not have the same contacts, though I could see Odom possibly helping him there.
Hiring from within does have it's advantages. Not just player retention, but it isn't quite starting from scratch with some of the other culture parts of building a program.
If we go a coordinator route, I would prefer from within, though I really like Will Stein. It may feel too familiar to Arroyo being Oregon's OC, but I don't see it that way. You know who would be Arroyo? Kingsbury. Arroyo is Kingsbury light. Kliff underperformed with Pat freaking Mahomes in college (Herbert* cough), and his offenses always start strong then hit a wall about 1/2 through the season. Just like this year in Washington. Plus Arroyo and Kinsbury look like they care a bit too much about their own appearances.
I don't think that Gabriel is going to get better in the Pros like Herbert and Mahomes did. I think he is at his best under Stein ( I could be wrong). Plus that offense just crushes.
Insiders immediately saying they knew it first, half our fans hating the hire, half liking it. A few nuts thinking Urban was in play and it's disappointing... Boise fans pissed because they're stuck with a Jeanty/Koetter-less Danielson...He walks out like a high basketball player with 2 hats before the game. Gronk asks him to choose and he puts on a UNLV hat
Arroyo was a Mario Cristobal assistant who himself is not a good coach, Stein is under a great coach at UOI am not completely against Marion.

Because everyone knows he's not really the coach and rode Koetter and Jeanty coattails... there's a reason he hasn't even been mentionedWhy TF isn't WVU going after Spencer Danielson? I haven't seen him mentioned for any HC job openings. Does he have a disease we're not aware of?
Not enough that I would want him here. He screams Marvin to me. Put up ok numbers at a small school. And in three years no other college has gone after him.

Could he carry on UNLV’s newly established culture tho?Biggest concern with Harsin was he a product of already established Boise culture? Was solid at Ark State.
Could he carry on UNLV’s newly established culture tho?
Harsin was at Boise for seven years and maintained excellence of the Boise State program. I see no issue in that regard or in terms of maintaining a winning culture.
Lastly, Harsin is only 48 yo and had a lot of gas in the tank. Also, his buyout at Auburn was $15.3 mill and has his roots out west. He could hit the ground running!
He was in the running for the Utah St. job before they decided to go with Mendenhall. I would assume if he was interested in the USU job, he would be interested in the UNLV opening.Should have received a phone call. Dont know if he has or hasn't.
If he did and said no, what can you do.
If he didn't..Well...What's the equivalent to malpractice for an AD?
