The Oregon/PSU game was very entertaining. But that Clemson/SMU game was a thriller. Man that last drive by SMU to tie it was special. Then Clemson does a KC/Buffalo and with only 16 seconds left in the game gets enough yards to kick the winning 55 yard FG. Hope the CFP Games are this good.

This team was ranked early in the season but have had a string of three losses.
The Aztecs beat them by 18 in a blowout.

Another interesting tidbit: Pop Isaacs seems to be doing really well for Creighton.

What were realistic expectations under Odom for next year? We were losing a lot. Would 6 wins be about right? If the next coach only wins 6 will that be okay?

Was it all about the money?

Was the stability of a P4 conference appealing vs the uncertainty of the G5.

I mean usually G5 conferences get raided by P4 conferences or possibly another bigger G5. We got raided by a conference that isn't even a conference yet.

Im trying to understand the CFP. The 5 ranked conference champions are in. MWC is be considered in that top 5 according to what I've read. Only one team will come out of the 5th ranked conference, and that will be either UNLV or Boise, depending who wins the Championship game, right? However, if the league is ranked #4, does that mean MWC may get more than one team in if UNLV wins? It's really confusing.

But I suspect we will see a lot of jockeying for Marion to get the job. To save the current players, staffers, to save the incoming recruiting class, etc, etc, etc - a bunch of promises from "insiders" but I think it'd all just be game playing to position somebody who is very thirsty at becoming a head coach. We saw it with Hut, we saw it with Ryan M, Stacy A, etc. It's like piranha circling a sparrow.

I won't list them, but I can easily come up with 5 or 6 reasons why that wouldn't be smart at all.

But I have zero impact and have to deal with whatever the decision may be, so whatever happens, happens.

How many coaches do you think Odom brings with him? And how many recruits leave?

Because who doesn’t go to 5 different colleges in 6 years…

With football taking most of my attention I’ve lost track of the team other than noting the headlines of 4 straight losses. Doesn’t sound good for CKK but I also understand we have several key players out with injuries. Appreciate any update on who’s out and when they’re expected to return. Hopefully before the conference slate begins. As per the program standard now we’ve only got 3/4 games in March for a shot at the NCAA.

I read a column by Steve Carp, he said that Harper is talking with Odom but won’t get into specifics in terms of anything. I suspect it’s to give Odom a big contract and big staff raise.

The conference will pay unlv 25 million, most of which will cover the department deficit. The rest could feasibly be used for extending coaches. There’s also donor support and other means to keep Odom. One way I’d be curious to see if Harper would use some of the contract language that Lon Kruger implemented to receive a percentage of the gate for all home games.

I’d also be curious to see if there’s any Big12 rumblings starting up after next week IF we win. A potential invite would be a great incentive for a HC like Odom.

I don’t feel nearly as badly as I thought I might.

No sleep last night, just over an hour. Nerves all day.

But I resigned myself to a loss and it’s why I laid the points. My reasoning was pretty simple.

- Boise is just better
- Games are won and lost at the lines. Boise is better at both.
- Jeanty is a deserved Heisman contender.
- Boise is a program, UNLV is building a program

But mostly, it came down to this and I know I’ve stated it as nauseam - Boise doesn’t make mistakes. UNLV does. I felt UNLV had to play pretty mistake free (we didn’t) and Boise had to make mistakes (they didn’t). But more than that, over the course of the season, UNLV has made mistakes. Boise hasn’t. Both teams played like themselves.
