A rather embarrassing slap in the face to downstairs donors who have to witness these putrid games. How does UNLV expect to draw ANY crowds with that type scheduling? Thanks Kevin for getting me all fired up about UC Riverside…..Not sure how we coerced Memphis to come here. So we got that going for us…

There are a million storyline surround each of these teams. Broadly, there are two major ones:

One is on the way out of the conference, the other is trying.

Both are CFP hopefuls.



These teams were picked 2 and 3 in tbe conference each with 2 first place votes. In addition to what should be a really good game on Saturday, what storyline specific to this week are you most interested in?

I always like former staffers playing against UNLV again. Skipper is a former UNLV DC, JD Williams is DBs and DPGC.

Looks like On 3 has him rated as 124th overall player as a 6'9" 200 lbs PF. 247 has him as 212th over all, and he is unranked and unscouted by ESPN and Rivals. We beat out UNM, Utah State, UI-Chicago, and College of Charleston (those are his best offers)

I watched a few videos--unfortunately mostly AAU circuit stuff where he plays like a traditional 4 and is bouncy but very slight with a good wingspan (he looks like someone put Chris Wood on a starvation diet). Uses glass well, but seemed to feast on posting up much shorter players. I think On3 might be a little too high on him--seems like a project to me especially since I didn't see a single jumpshot. Has anyone had the chance to see him live or have any insight?

Kansas and Houston suck and Utah Tech is complete garbage.

Great game. CU could have tied it and Webster dropped a pass square in his chest that would have tied it with 5 seconds left. The last play a Hail Mary from the Baylor 45 and Webster dives to the ground to make a great catch to tie it at 31. Miss the easy one make the tough one. Onto OT.

Houston is complete garbage. They'd finish in the lower half of the MWC.

I feel like Kansas will fix things, but yeah, overall, the wins aren't as impressive as originally thought. Even still, winning on the road is tough, so we'll take it. Really need a win vs Fresno next week at home though as the SJSU and Syracuse games are looking tougher than we thought before the season started

Jerrae Williams…BACKUP safety for Washington State….has zero stats this year, despite a lot snaps in the first two games. AND now out for the season with ANOTHER Injury. SMH

Jayden Maiava…BACKUP at USC, just made news for being the first Polynesian QB to take a snap at USC….however, it was just clean up duty in a 48-0 blowout…and to make matters worse, his teammates cheered him on like he was the Down Syndrome guy that got in the game and made a layup while the defense pretended to guard him.

Gotta think a few guys are realizing they effed by leaving.

When you get down to it there are perhaps 10-15 (University Presidents/AD's and a few others) people who are willing to destroy the Athletic programs of six-to-eight schools so WSO and OSU don't have to set foot on the lowly Wyoming, USU or SJSU campuses. They could have split their $ 250 million and merged into the top G5 conference and had a near lock annual on a bid to the playoffs. But No.................!!! They are just too good to get some manure on their polished loafers at Wyoming. Too good to play in a less than perfect stadium in Albuquerque. The "snooty two" and the "traitor four" are just disgusting. And to think it would end up in our best interest to join these revolting slugs is really distressing.

When was the last time in any conference that UNLV was the last team in the conference that had an undefeated record?

He’s having difficulty posting right now. I know the same thing happened to a few others as well, like Bcvegas. I don’t know what the issue is with some profiles.

Anyway, I think he posted as NSU. He wanted me to pass off his info in case anybody wanted to reach him.

It appears to me after reading Dennis Dodd’s article that the current expansion by the PAC wasn’t thought out and more of a knee jerk reaction or desperation by the PAC 2.

This quote was insightful:

“Industry sources weren't sure which way forward the Pac-12 would take. They were sure almost unanimously that the new Pac-12 won't get much more than the current Mountain West deal, which is $45 million per year from current rights holders Fox and CBS. (TNT has a smaller deal for a handful of lower-echelon games.)”

They would discuss voting to dissolve the conference. There are technically only 7 teams as it stands with Hawaii being football only.

Here's why I think it would be smart for all parties involved. (And if there are holes in my theory feel free to tell me I'm an idiot).

Every team in the MWC should be looking for a new landing spot now.

There is no way the next media deal for the current MWC will match the last one with what was lost. There are no viable schools to poach to replace what was lost. The one school in the most trouble is UH.

So.

To avoid paying exit fees vote to dissolve the conference.

Here's where my theory probably hits some snags but...

Most if not all the schools could find a soft landing in CUSA. Assuming they want to expand. I believe CUSA would absolutely take UNM, UTAH STATE, WYOMING and RENO. I also think they would consider Hawaii football only. SJSU would be a solid addition getting them into the California market.

If they took 5 they get to 14. The biggest road block for Hawaii is travel cost. Not for them but the teams already in CUSA. They aren't exactly big money schools. This is why I think UH could be in a lot of trouble.

AFA would go to the AAC. I don't think there would be any hurdles here.

That leaves UNLV.

I don't believe the Regents will ultimately end up being anything more than a hurdle/minor annoyance with the whole Reno/UNLV tied at the hip nonsense.

The question then becomes does the PAC actually want UNLV?

I mean there's so many reasons to think they would. But it is possible they don't.

I'm going out on a limb that they would take UNLV. (I also believe Utah State might be a team they would consider oddly enough).

I also don't believe since they are football only Hawaii gets a vote.

The Illinois v Nebraska - This game would give a boost for UNLV with Illinois winning and also having a win over Kansas. This game also helps UNLV either way by a team ranked just above UNLV losing. Currently Illinois 7 Nebraska 3

Syracuse v Stanford - It would be nice to see Syracuse win this game and come into LV undefeated and top 25. Currently Stanford 10 Syracuse 3

Other than McDuffie, just your typical, nagging football day to day aches and pains.

Halftime adjustments to D - nothing schematically. Line was getting spread, emphasis to break through the line, emphasis on the arm tackles with the DBs

UNLV was very confident they were going to win the game at halftime …

… they know and see the hoopla, it’s cool, but they don’t care.

It’s a game by game mindset, but also realize the potential now ….
