OT: Salt water pool - white flakes

Asking help from anyone who is fairly experienced dealing with salt water pools. Had an issue with algae build up about a month ago with company A. Company B comes in with shock as well as dumping chlorine tablets into skimmer basket. Salt cell generator was previous set at 20%(for winter I guess) and has been set at 80% for at least a month that I know of. Algae was dealt with but white flakes started showing up noticeably in the past 2-3 weeks. We checked the pool filter and the cartridges have white flaky material everywhere. Would like to know if anyone had similar problems and how they solved them. Also salt cell has a significant build up of white crust and that's just a month after it was cleaned.

Commits/Recruits AAU and HS Season Discussion

I will be posting in this thread from now on to discuss commits/recruits and their games.

Nike EYBL Peach Jam:
I watched all of the Paul George Elite game, but didnt get to catch all of Team Why Not or Vegas Elite. Evans and Stephen play for Paul George Elite, Compton runs with Vegas Elite, and Sensley plays for Team Why Not. Here's my breakdown:

James Evans - 20 points, 6 reb, 2 ast & 2 stl. Was also the primary defender on the #42 player in the nation and gave him fits all game. He only scored 4 points all game on Evans and was whining. He did not look like he wanted to be out there against Evans at all.

Emmanuel Stephen - 6 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 11 blocks. Affected probably 20-25 shots. Just a monster on the defensive end. He can really improve on offense; has a little trouble handling the ball in the paint and takes some plays off. Gets frustrated and lets that affect his game at times.

Zion Sensley - 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal. Very smooth and lets the game come to him.

Pharaoh Compton - 6 points, 1 rebound. Underwhelming game for him; was in foul trouble early.

OT: Duke Campus Tour

We are in North Carolina for my son’s baseball tournament and did a campus tour of UNC and Duke. If I knew how to post a picture here I would show where I peed on the outside wall of Cameron. I didn’t see the court itself but from the outside it looked like the size of my high school gym at Chaparral. How many does it seat? I do have to say it might be the most beautiful campus I have ever seen. UNC had a nice campus too. NC State is very meh.

DJ Thomas landscape changer:

From what I’m hearing, our new local point guard has more than a few players lined up to come to UNLV in 2024. All high quality. It seems now would be a good time to select a nice downstairs season ticket to Rebel games. We should be very good starting this year. Thanks DJ… for changing the landscape. Las Vegas has been waiting a long time….I’ve got Runnin Rebel fever running through my mind.

Did anybody else get to watch

The game on ESPN yesterday, Vegas Elite vs George Elite (James Evans). I only caught the middle portion, about a half hour of it. It’s hard to tell a lot, it can be such hoggy hoops at times, PG always has the ball and it’s just shit basketball.

From what I viewed, he Evans didn’t do alot. Had a couple drives, breakaway dunk, some steals … but it was the type that were easy loose ball steals caused by sloppy handling, not actual pressure. Didn’t seem aggressive at all, just sort of waited on things.

I wasn’t intently focused though so I may have missed some things, but he didn’t stand out at all. A couple of guys did but it still wasn’t some inspiring ball, it was sloppy pick up/all star bs from what I saw.

Michigan Previews UNLV

This fan site previews the Rebels @ Michigan. The focus is mostly on Odom and the changes he may bring, and rightly so. But they totally overlooked the offensive changes Coach Marion is bringing. I'm sure there will be a little "WTH...?" head scratching going on with M fans with some of the stuff we run, as there will be with most our opponents. Should be fun.

Friends of UNLV Collective

Have any of y’all made donations to this collective? It’s supposedly registered as a 501c3 so the donations, in theory, can be deductible. Working in the financial industry has me a bit worried about this set up since I think the IRS has said they don’t think these collectives being set up as a 501 are legit. Would be a travesty to be audited over a 10k donation. Thanks in advance.
