MW conference schedule 2025

Away – Boise State
Away – Colorado State
Away – Nevada
Away – Wyoming
Home – Air Force
Home – Hawai‘i
Home – New Mexico
Home – Utah State

Strange not to be playing Fresno or SDSU. Strange to think that our last game against Fresno and SDSU were our lasts one in this conference. Unless of course we meet them in the finals.

Available candidates (non UNLV staff)

If a successor isn’t named immediately after the Odom to Purdue news is official. Then I don’t see Harper retaining any of the coordinators to be a HC. If that’s the case, let’s look at who is available:

Bill Belichick, former NFL Head Coach + plus naming his son as HC in waiting.

Dan Mullen, former Mississippi State and Florida coach

Brennan Carrol, Washington Huskies offensive coordinator.

Will Stein, Oregon Ducks offensive coordinator

Tim Banks, Tennessee Volunteers defensive coordinator

D’Anton Lynn, USC Trojans defensive coordinator

Bob Chesney - James Madison HC

Tony White - Nebraska DC

Did Anyone else see this..?

I linked the entire article but one part caught my attention.

Is there something else brewing beyond possibly hiring Mullen? Was this just purely speculation? Just lumping MWC/PAC together? Is UNLV back in talks with the PAC potentially?

I'll save you guys the time of reading entire article this is the part I'm referencing.

'Part of UNLV’s pursuit of Mullen includes an NIL and revenue-share commitment, Nakos reported. The school is gearing up to roll out one of the top budgets in the Mountain West and, later, the Pac-12 once the Rebels make the move.'

This is the tweet/report they are referencing. I think the guy is saying UNLV will have one of the top NIL packages in the MWC OR PAC12 and the writer of the article interpreted it as UNLV is intending to make the move to the PAC12. I can't see UNLV turning down the deal the MWC offered unless they suddenly got some kind of influx of booster money.

AJ Dybantsa to BYU

Heard an interview where he said he liked BYU's new offense and that is why he chose them. Yeah I am sure that is the reason. The $7MM NIL he got for one year has nothing to do with it 🤣 🤣 They could run the four corners and for $7MM that is where he would be going.

Our QB Situation

Don’t want to get down on Hajj too much because ultimately we wouldn’t be here if Friel was our QB. He showed a lot of physical and mental toughness and coming off the bench in the middle season like he did and delivering he deserves a lot of credit for that. Just ultimately he’s more of a Campbell QB.

This shows how tough it is to get a QB out of the portal because half the teams in the country wants one and you’ll have to pay through the nose for one otherwise you’ll ultimately end up with someone who has some flaws.

Hopefully, in the long run, Odom is going through the high school route to develop a QB. Anyone have a feel if either of the ones we have landed including his son project as starters?

Coaches in their 60's

There is no virtually no coach who is moving through the ranks who will stay if they are successful. They will say they will stay. They will say they love the town. But if they have success they will bolt faster than a coyote after a rabbit. The only possible ( even here no guarantees) exception to this is a coach who wants to finish a career. We should look at coaches in the mid fifties and older who want to show they can still coach but who also don't want be in the P4 pressure cooker.
