Both the UNLV and ESPN Stat page show Gilbert shooting 63.6 percent from three. That is the second-best percentage in the country. But it doesn't appear on the NCAA stat page for some reason. Does anyone know why that would be?

there’s not many things that would show the players that you don’t care about them. Any accolades piled on during the season, for play, for academics, that would ring hollow if you don’t play in the game. And we are going to lose players regardless - but you are going to lose a lot more when you show them that they don’t matter.

Being a fan of UNLV athletics is a purely dysfunctional. A few months ago I thought everybody was so worried we would lose our coach , turns out we wanted him fired???... it doesnt make sense...nothing does with mickey mouse U. Anybody care to explain???

I know its a really crappy team but I remember years where we would let crappy teams stick around the whole game before winning. Really digging Kevin Kruger as the coach.

I guess the university really wanted six wins after all. This is what I was told over the summer.

Should be a reminder, once again …. When you have success, pay attention to the competition and give it some weight. Whether it’s a recruit (Dantley), whether it’s a team, whether it’s a player (Jones last game). If you don’t add some context to what you are seeing … you’re going to have some skewed POV’s.

Though I’ll admit, to me, the team did look “different” early … and I don’t think it was entirely shit competition that made UNLV look decent. They were smoother, more focused than we’ve seen a lot of past UNLV teams (even when those former teams played weak teams). Maybe I was fooled by my eyes, but back of kind always said “be careful, they’re playing garbage”.

@San Diego- trap game after a week off and first true away game, USD is not good but gave Utah St. a scare. Feel like this is the game will show me if the program has moved on from its old ways.

Hawaii (5-1)- played nobody, at Henderson this should still not be close. Best win Texas State, loss to undefeated Yale. Still not a good team.

Washington St. @MGM Grand (3-2) all you need to know is they lost to SWAC Prairie View A&M, best win Texas State.

San Francisco(6-1), wins at Fresno st, Wichita St, loss last game to Davidson. Best team left OOC, also possible at-large team.

Southern Miss(6-0), zero quality wins

Amazingly all of these have winning records, but wow they have played nobody. Best loss is probably Yale.

I would hope we can run the table, but gun shy based on recent history that this will actually happen. Really wish the Wash St. game was a tournament to where we faced the Arizona/Indiana winner.

I saw this and did a double take. Is our fan base out of touch or is this how outsiders really view the situation. I'm stunned. I can see Desiree saying, "See, I knew what I was doing the UNLV fan base is just poison. Just ask T.J. and Caleb Grill."

Any thoughts here? Brumsfeld was never the same after the injury. Was early season a fluke? I imagine he gets a chance to show whether or not that is the case. Unless Bailey steals it from him. He showed some flashes he missed guys wide open (long every time but also within inches) maybe he cleans that up. Slow release but can get the ball downfield if he is accurate with it maybe he can get the job.

31 points vs UNC with 8 3’s. Not sure if he just got hot or has been better this season. ISU took down UNC.

Not that the team deserves or is actually top 25 but I've been curious how much national recognition they might be getting especially with receiving votes already prior to the tournament.

Trying to see if there is a way to see how good we really are. We are 6-0 but look at the teams we have played. Not one of them have a win against a team with a pulse. Southern Illinois has a win against Oklahoma St but looking at Oklahoma St I am not sure they are that good of a team this year. I am not trying to diminish anything UNLV has accomplished so far just saying I am not sure we have had a real test yet to be able to know how good UNLV really is. Nor do I think we will until we play SDSU. Sorta seems like the same type of excitement our football team had when we were 4-1. Hoping the basketball team has way better outcome.
