I understand that the Pac makes sense in the short term. With how slimy their leadership is, I can’t say its a viable thing to be a part of year 3. I would equate the pac to dirty politician, or a sleazy used car salesman. Nothing about this feels right.
I think and @Jason Kelly said this in his podcast yesterday, there is a huge lack of trust and therefore UNLV is hesitant to enter an agreement with them. We know the MWC brand, the leadership, etc... assuming they're upfront with..

The poaching fee is NOT "on top of that." Two separate contracts. The Temu7 think that's a valid argument. I assure you it is not.
Agree. It's going to be pretty hard to sue your way out of an agreement like that which was put in place specifically to prevent this exact scenario. I'm no legal expert but that would seem like pretty basic partnering agreement. You don't F with us, you don't owe us anything.. You F with my buisness and you owe me a lot...

The reason why we should expect it all is the Pac2+ was going to pay it for the schools. If that "rumor" is not true then I agree with your point. If that "rumor" is not true but the schools were told by the Pac2+ it was true....this will be must see TV
I believe that the rumor was that the PAC was going to pay or help pay for exit fees as well, but I always read that as the ultimate or negotiated down exit fees.

Like I said our exit fees seem a bit extraneous, especially considering the poaching fee on top of that.

UNLV Exploring Options After USU Joins PAC

Is this another credible report from you Meister? :)

Ok, last post for a while, I have things to do.

Here's the needed scenario:
  • UNLV accepts the Pac offer
  • Pac-2 President's immediately fire Teresa, acknowledge that mistakes were made, and they were all Teresa's fault
  • President's then go to the MW, say their mea culpa's, and say look let's go back to the full reverse merger. We will give you all a modest $ sweetener just for fun. Gloria, you are our new Commissioner, the PacWest-14 offices will move to Colorado Springs
  • With Hawaii back in tow, we get going on our corporate sponsorship deal. Out springs the shiny new Alaska/Hawaiian Air PacWest-14. Logo planes for all members
Simple dimple. You are all welcome. Sincerely, the Allmighty, All-knowing, and All-Seeing Loyal One. As I am referred to by - well let's see - ME! :)
I like this except I don’t see enough pain distributed to the snooty two and traitor four.

But in nearly every other exit fee situation, those fees have been negotiated down.

The PAC was due 100 mil, they got 50 plus a 15 mil bonus because they got totally screwed, when some of the CUSA went to the AAC it was negotated down to about 60%.

I don't think we can expect the full 85 million

I forgot about USU, so the MW would likely need a third team to get to 10. Which would likely mean a FBS call up or Texas State or Sam Houston state or something.

Again Expect the exit fees to be about half. So 9 mil for 5 teams is 45 milly. So a good round number if the PAC lawsuit fails is 100 mil for the MW if no one else leaves.

Some of that would be used to bring new teams in. But hopefully that won't be too expensive.

How much of that is distributed to the teams? Really hard to say. The league will likely hold on to most to protect them from the next raiding. I can see them sharing the poaching fee

What I am saying is that we shouldn't count on UNLV netting a 6th or 7th of 140 million which would be 23 mil. It will likely not be a 6th of 100 mil either.

So yes, staying will get us some money. But it won't be 30. If we sign we are guaranteed the 10, but beyond that?

What's great is that in another 4 years we will likely have threads discussing how the folks that said moving to the PAC were idiots because something goes sideways or we're stuck playing some Directional Texas school in basketball with a pile of money and no B12 invite wasting away in the 6th best G6 conference.

I don't know the inner workings of these conferences. Does the commissioner of each conference have full control over the decisions on when and how much to release of this money? What's the point of having a boat load of money sitting in the conference war chest if the schools in the conference aren't able to benefit from it?

That would actually be a reason for the remaining MWC members to vote to dissolve the conference. Let the dust settle on the 5 schools leaving (or 6 if another commits to the PAC), then agree that in 2 years, you vote to dissolve and distribute all the money.
It would be foolish for the conference to fully distribute the funds if they want to survive. Only if they were planning to dissolve which seems very unlikely. If they go out grab more teams you KNOW that ain't happening.
