Never Have We Ever…

I have no inside information. What is see in UNLV today is where Utah was in the past. UNLV needs to be opportunistic and smart. I would focus on trying to keep Odom, increase assistants salaries, build a long term sustainable culture, keep your AD, and keep Lindy. Set yourself up so that the Big 12 would want UNLV as an addition. In the interim, keep winning and building fan support.

Wonder if they both have buyers remorse. Should be a tale to the young about sticking together with your team to do something special. Proud of our team, hoping we just win and stay healthy. Wonder which bowl we'll get.
Strictly talking about Maiva here. Kids leaving our program and going to better schools and succeeding is good news for us. Like it or not, we are gonna lose guys to other teams with bigger NIL budgets. Recruits seeing that we have developed other guys gives them confidence in our coaching staff.

Never Have We Ever…

Never Have We Ever played in the conference title game.

Never Have We Ever been ranked in either the AP, Coach’s or BCS/CFP polls.

Never Have We Ever played in bowl games back to back years.

Never Have We Ever played in anything other than a bottom tier bowl game.

Never Have We Ever won the conference.

And not in 40 years have we won 10 regular season games.

And not in 40 years have we had back to back winning seasons.

It took Odom all of two seasons to do what a dozen coaches covering several decades were unable to do combined. Pretty amazing what a good coach can do.
Never have we ever went undefeated in the regular season either 😎

Never Have We Ever…

He has the opportunity to get into CFP with our current foundation, NIL, facilities, etc. Might actually have a BETTER chance at CFP year in and year out than in a power conference.

Foundation should just strengthen with time, NIL should increase with success, league will get weaker (will have to counter with OOC) …

If his goal is money, we can’t compete with P5. We will lose him. If it’s winning and and opportunity to be best in the league year in and year out, be ranked year in and year out .. have an opportunity for CFP, being relevant and viewed as strong …. He has that here now as unbelievable as that sounds. He created it, but it’s here now. He can become a legend here with lower risk than elsewhere.
If he's not careful, Mark Davis might kick his tires, lol...

I'm not usually petty..But...

Not necessarily... think about all the things we've needed so far this year that happened..
Fluke fumble recovery on winning TD drive vs Kansas
Memphis lossing to UTSA
CSU dropping to Fresno
Navy having wheels fall off
Army losing to ND
Tulane losing to Memphis
...
Alot of things not in our control that had to go right and all did to set this up...
It really has played absolutely beautifully into our hands. Obviously an undefeated season would have been nice, but the last time we went undefeated didn't end so well. Frigging destiny!

Just like Tark when he first came here.

Keeping Odom.

It’s funny …. The only other time I remember fighting to keep somebody because of success was Lon. Everyone else was canned or retired in mediocrity.

And there was no way we could outbid OU, they wanted one coach and one coach only, they were dialed in and would have just countered until we tapped out. The perks of having unlimited funds.
When Vegas realizes it made 100m off of UNLV's recent football success, it'll come up with unlimited funds. That's my hope anyways.

#5 name looks familiar.

Think of Hajj's numbers as well. Sluka dipping was the best thing that ever happened to UNLV sports. Outside of Lamar getting busted for dental work for his Crack teeth.
I am definitely curious what school takes him. When he left it sounded like he felt he was next in line to start at Notre Dame. FSU might have a QB opening lol.

Keeping Odom.

Drawing 40k for 2 games is huge. Facilities already there. If UNLV gets 40k on its own, bring B12 team here your over 50k plus. Winning winning Odom Odom
I agree they don't talk about that enough if we can draw 35-40K for San Jose, Reno, Wyoming etc. you can be sure that number will be 45-50K for Kansas, BYU, Utah, WV etc because you will have more locals wanting to see those teams play and because those teams travel a lot better than most MWC teams not named Boise.

And in the sports capital of the world! What he has done here is ridiculously stupid. It's something the Raiders are years away from.
