So, I think this illustrates the problems with the NIL system being separated from the school. You can't claim poaching or recruiting tampering if the staff in question didn't offer him anything.

I'm not sure what the story is, but with Mickey leaving ND in the same fashion, I think you're going to see this 4 game window to redshirt used from time to time moving forward as part of the system working as intended.

The hard truth is that Sluka doesn't have any chance of making it in the NFL as a QB. His window to make 6 figures a season is extremely limited and if someone offers him more than what you can counter and he can leave, he's going to leave. This is how capitalism works in a system without any oversight or guard rails. I hate that he did it as a rebel fan, but as a capitalist it seems like if you didn't want the system to work like this you would have put in rules against it.

All of college football needs to make an example of Sluka so the next one thinks twice. Make it universal that schit like this won't be tolerated. By the fans or respectable schools.

Would any respectable school pull this douche from the portal puting a target on their chest? I can't see it. They'd never live it down.

Leading me to believe he may have gotten the money he was looking for, but for leaving. This is a career ending move.

Or he was being replaced and pulled an even bigger douchy move.

One thing I know for sure is, if NIL money was promised and not fulfilled, Odom would have done everything in his power to make it right.

The good thing is Hajj and Sluka have some similarities.

Both mobile so it shouldn't impact any option stuff or force Marion to move away from designed QB runs. Hajj not the physical runner Sluka is, and Sluka was really good at reading and recognizing recognizing running lanes. But Hajj is no slouch with his legs.

Hajj also probably a more accurate passer with better touch.

I feel like like it's a pretty even swap overall.

I would be way more concerned if we had to go from Sluka to Friel. Totally changes the offense and really would limit a lot of zone read/read option stuff and designed QB runs.

That said now down to 2 guys with game experience Marion/Odom may try and dial back the QB run game a little to protect against injury.

Um what? Have you seen the Cougs QB? John Mateer is now a Heisman Top 10 QB. And he will stay a Coug, and will see the NFL. Sluka, from what I saw, is a one trick pony. Sorry for you guys, what a lowlife POS he is.

I will admit that Sluka used his feet to win the game, but the lack of a passing game put UNLV in this position in the first place. We have two All American receivers, and he couldn't even take advantage of the passing game? No doubt Sluka watched the highlights of his runs and he along with his agent decided it was time to leverage this into a big payday.
