Yes ESPN National. Pretty damning comments - no recruit should trust the word of UNLV. Even if there was a verbal commitment of $$ it will blowback badly on UNLV and Odom. Allegedly a verbal commitment was made by Marion. Unless the convo was recorded we’ll never know for sure. Blame on both sides to not document the understand of the relationship. This isn’t the 1980s anymore, the era of playing for the love of the game is long gone. It’s all about $$ and both universities and recruits need to protect themselves. In this regard UNLV should have known better. Highly regarded QBs don’t transfer for nothing. On the other side Sluka picked a rather convenient (high leverage) time to make his demand. Very poor handling by him and his representatives.

Like The USA the greatest and oldest country in the world, UNLV does not negotiate with terrorists, communists, the French or kickers.

I miss the old days when we had powerful boosters that paid money to our old basketball teams.

Now we do things “correctly” and we still get shafted…

All we have to do is keep winning and rally behind Hajj and Friel.

Can make an interesting season for people to tune in to us..

Every 18 kids they can get another one into the league in the same amount of time. Just increase your their wives by another 3 or 4 and you can produce the entire defense for BYU

The freshmen are now a year younger since they dropped the missionary age from 19 to 18. BYU football seniors only graduating with 2 kids instead of 3.

I think Sluka’s agent told him what a qb for a top 25 program gets and he wanted the same. Sluka had leverage on the success of being 3-0 and he could redshirt. Unlv said no. I think they have enough confidence in the back ups.

Who is responsible for offering these agreements? At bigger schools, are most of the players given a similar NIL package? Or is it dependent on player/position/worth? It seems like it would require a lot of coordination between the coaching staff for all sports and the NIL groups.

Dude was a warrior, I am sure he had friends on the team.
But turning your back like this typically sours relationships.
